Got about 2 inches here in STL lastnight...the way people act around here you'd think it was 2 feet.  A plow went by my house THREE times during the night...it was just slush when I went to bed...sounded like that guy was taking about 6 inches of concrete off the surface of the street along with the slush...sheez...I could feel the vibrations in my bed.   Supposed to get 6 inches plus tomorrow night...I am calling to work now because I just don't want to fool with all the idiots on the road even though I have no problems getting around in my 4X Truck.  Oh well...only 83 days until the cover comes off the pool.

Well, the storm has apparently moved out of here since about 11:00. I was kinda hoping it was just a little lul... no such luck. We ended up with about 6". Enough to have the kids (and me of course) tearing up the yard on the quads and snowmobile... I wanted at least a foot...

We measured 23" out in the middle of the road. Here is a quote from VDOT:

It may be mid-week before residential streets in NOVA are plowed clear, and that timetable could be disrupted if there is another snowfall on Tuesday. "It's going to be the better part of next week before we finish with the subdivisions. I can see it being Wed or Thurs"said Joan Morris of VDOT. If the forecast of more snowfall on Tuesday holds true, plowing of VA subdivisions from the big storm could take longer. "If we get more on Tuesday, all the equipment gets pulled out of the subdivisions back into the major highways," Morris said.

It has stopped here.  We got between 21 and 24".  I live at the bottom of a fairly steep hill in the woods.  I went out at 9 to get a jump on the mess.  Four hours later I came in.  When I got to the top of the hill, I felt like Rocky reaching the top of the Philly Art Museum steps.  The snow was so deep, the blower couldn't propel itself up the hill, and I have a decent sized blower.  I had to really push it the whole way.  My hill is 300' long and about 8' wide.  I did it 6' at a time until I got to the top.  This was after the rest of my driveway, which is 75' x 30'.  I am DONE.

If I stand outside for a while I hear "Crrrraaaaak". Limbs are coming down, especially from those tall evergreen trees.

I hope everyone is safe and doing OK with all this snow...?
Looks like great snowboardin' weather, but instead I spent a few hours skateboardin' in 65 degree weather today...

My six cents,

Jim
