It's in relatively excellent shape, with the exception of couple dime size dings on the side edge of the front door that opens up for loading.  The mechanical parts, the timing arm, carrier, carrier drive, rollers, coin dispenser ect. works smoothly and perfect.  The cooling system was just sent out for restoration and I'll be doing the rest.

My questions, with this being the first coke machine I'm restoring, with a cavalier 96 in queue are.......

1) Would it be safe to lightly sand blast these internal mechanical parts to rid themselves of years of grime and deposits or is there another preferred and recommended way of cleaning ?

2) What was the original finish of the front left and right doors and the bottle receiver trim ring ?  Previously these were repainted silver.  Did they just have a raw material finish? plated or buffed and polished ?

Thanks in advance for and help

Hello All,

Just sharing a project that been a long time coming!

Several years back I acquired original literature regarding late 1930's National Candy & Cigarette Vendors. Inside the pages, I saw the optional clock assembly mounted atop a couple of cigarette vendors. I then began researching which Telechron clock was used and began to purchase them when I could find them, not many pop up! I then created detailed measurements from both the actual clock, an actual cigarette machine while referencing the scaled images in the literature so that I could draw a very close duplicate in AutoCad.  Now that Covid days are behind us, I still had a problem locating someone that could/would take on the metal fabrication project...
For the sake of brevity, here is the fruit of my labor!
I had extras fabricated just in case someone may need/want one, so just ask... I'll sell them with/without an original Telechron clock.

Had some luck in getting the pricing info and hardware. So leaves me with searching for the bezel (frame) that goes to the Bottler Opener slot and the lighted marquee.

johnnieG thanks for the post! Always enjoy the background/knowledge on these types of things.

I am finding more as I go here. My model is actually a cavalier model 871 (my understanding is that it's still a CS64).

As for the Marquee, I do have the lighting unit but am in need of the components (light up panel, frame and any hardware to install it). So if anyone out there has one for sale, please PM me.

Also needed, the Price/Insert Coin Lamp Holder & Coin Chute. Again, if anyone has one for sale, please PM me.

hello & welcome to the site...

Cavalier & others, Vendo, etc.  offered the lighted Marquee/sign as an Option, otherwise the machine would come with a steel/painted sign in its place (in your case Coca~cola), Steve Ebner wrote a book on collectable Coke machines that points out the differences between the 06's square cornered Cavalier models. (and others)

The Cavalier CS 64 has several different models as you've found out, typically it's due to an update like a slightly longer bottle door, etc.  or a new trim package ie: chrome vs gold, or blackout trim, etc.  I'm used to vendos that have many common parts that will easily exchange between models, coin-door, bottle doors, etc.

Newbie here! Picked up a Cavalier CS 64 machine and first thing I need to learn is what 64 it is. I know there's different model 64s. I looked at tags on the machine to no avail. What is the difference between the models?

Also, there's a few parts I am need of to make this complete.

First is the lighted sign (marquee) itself. When I received this machine there was a metal piece (see second picture) where the lighted marquee goes. It doesn't appear to be home made at all so wondering if Cavalier made these "inlays" for machines to be put in places where the light might get broken??? As you can see in my picture, I have the light unit itself but, what I am assuming is the, frame/housing is missing.

Few other pieces I  want to get is the frame that goes around the Bottler Opener area and the pricing piece. With the pricing piece, I need the "hardware" to attach the pricing plate.

Is there somewhere (Parts Manual etc.) I can see the parts I need so I know exactly what I am missing.

Appreciate the assistance on this and please, the more info the better.

Cheers,

meSz
