www.machinemover.com rates are generally $300 door to door and he will even bring the machine into your house. You can also get cheeper rates from fedexfreight or forward air if you ste up an account. PM me if you are inetested in anything.

Spot on Terry!
Anybody care to write up a step-by-step (FAQ) for shipping issues? How to pack/crate, who to use/not use, if accounts can be shared etc..
San Jose Airport is 10 minutes away so I'm sure I could Forward Air but don't know how.
Thanks in advance.

Creighton,

That is an excellent idea. I'm going through the wringer right now trying to get a machine shipped. It's not the shipping company...It's the seller I bought the machine off of!

JohnieG was gracious enough to hook me up with FedEx Freight and give me some insight as how to better protect the machine so no damag occurs in transit. Not saying I volunteer anybody....... '<img'> I think that collectively we will be able to generate something of great value!

Thanks Brian!
Been on this board awhile and the same things just seem to always turn up. Hoping to gather and sort resources so all can avoid trouble, help each other locally etc..

The saintly manner that JonnieG has always posted the "Free Play" diagram is what got me thinking.

I'll start the New England Chapter.  Anybody else up this direction?  I'm in Maine!
So as I see it, the main issues we want to cover right now are:
1.  FAQs on shipping
2.  Setting up point of contacts in each chapter for member-based shipping

Anything else?

Maybe there could be folders (sticky ones that always appear at the top) where we could post machine availability info.  Each one could be labeled by the chapter and anyone, anywhere, who knows of an available machine (be it by eBay, ad in paper, heard from a friend, etc) can put it in the right place.

Just a thought.
