Hey guys, I'm hoping we have a jukebox expert on this forum that can maybe help me a little,   although I've wanted one for quite some time, I really don't know much about jukeboxes, I have a chance to buy one or at least one is being offered to me in lieu of part of the money on a 4 machine deal I'm involved in... The jukebox is a Rok-Ola nostalgia 1000... I know, it's a much later model not to metion a reproduction of a reproduction lol but I'm fine with that, I know it's not terribly valuable around $800 to $1200 which I'm also fine with,  my main concern is of the quality of the model, I know the same reproduction done by the Sonata company out of mexico in the late 70's was a huge peice of crap and all I've ever read is poeple having nothing but peoblems with them,  is anyone familiar with Rock-ola's reproduction or maybe owns or has own one and can tell me how reliable they are ? Any help would be great ! Thanks in advance !

Hi Jeff,

I live in Williamsville and collect Jukeboxes.  I almost got tricked into buying the made in Mexico version.  Glad I didn't.  I do not own one but if you like that style, the 1973 Wurlitzer 1050 retro may be a better choice.  Let me know.  You are not that far away.  I am pretty good on the old Seeburgs but I still may be able to help a little.

Hi Jeff

if I were you I'd save my money and put it towards a real juke. I've got a couple. A Wurlie 1900 and a Rockola Empress. Had them longer than the kids. Have had a Seeburg in the past too.

You should keep your powder dry and have a hunt around and see what you can find. There are a couple of guys here that buy and sell and will have a much better idea of cost than me but for $1500 I'm sure you should be almost there on something visual.

The jukebox's where you can see the records are the ones that are most valuable. I wouldn't give 2 cent for any any other box.

Some "Silver age" jukeboxes that you may find more attractive.  I am partial to the Seeburg 100 series

Don't over look basket cases. They can be a lot of work, but so worth it in the end. ...
If you love Chrome, and to polish it,  the late 1950's  Seeburgs rock.

I got a Seeburg G I did a complete restoration in 2003 and to this day it play beautifully. Then with help of some folks on the board I got at Roc Ola 1422 untouched and I play it everyday. Good Luck

We have a Rock-ola fireball like this one:
http://www.lotsapins.com/Rockola/Fireball/fireball2.htm

I like it because it takes CDs, so we can get new music for it.

I prefer the Seeburgs.  Mine needs a some work but I love the way it looks!  Can't seem to find a picture right now but mine is the last one of the three posted byKilroy.  1958 Seeburg Model 161 with the fins and taillights on the front that remind me of a 57 Chevy.  I know where a nice working Seeburg VL200 sits and I work on the owner everytime I see it.  That would be my dream joke if I can get it.

Well thanks for all the input guys... so the deal went through and I ended up with the juke anyways... I couldn't pass up the offer, the juke was almost thrown in for nothing so I will enjoy it for a bit and then pass it on... it's complete, works flawlessly and sounds great, and I actually like the look of it, so till I can find a wurli 1015 or 1100, this will play my old records... by the way those are some sweet sweet jukes Kilroy, nice colection !

Ltransam,

The "W" is one of the only Seeburgs silver age jukeboxes I don't own.  I hope to change that someday. If fact, I am working getting  a Vl200 as we speak.

Here is my 222 that I am working on now.  The 222 sounds terrific.  I think I like the look of the earlier 100s however.

I love jukeboxes but no little about them. If I buy a non working coke machine very easy to trouble shoot, non working jukebox I would have no idea where to start. However I see jukeboxes like this.

The 1015 is the Vendo 44 of jukes. Both pricey but the one everyone sees and knows and wants although not practical for home use. 78 records and 8 oz single vend bottles. The Seeburg 100R is the Vendo 81 of jukes. Reasonably priced, great for home use as you can load 50 45's that can still be found and also reproduced and the 81 you can fill with anything. Both great have a timeless classic look. I like all Seeburg 100 series B, C, W, etc but the R sounds best because is Hi-Fi although 50's Hi-Fi.

All other jukes to me are the VMC 33's, Cavalier 51's, Vendo 39's etc. Collectible but no wow factor.

Just my 2 cents which I know means nothing, I'm just saying.

The Wurlitzer 1100 is only surpassed, in my opinion, by there 850.

The Wurlitzer 2000 is the collectors Silver Age Jukebox. I have the 1900, same machine half the records no nasty turning pages.

Don't forget the early Sixties Rockolas. Empress, Tempo etc. Very big in Europe and associated heavily with the cafe and coffee house culture of the time. great lookers with lots of chrome
and the most visible of all players.

Yes Cool and they where both repopped by Wurlitzer.

(a true story 3 years ago. I'm not so familiar with English language but i hope it's legible)

I had always think that a 1015 would add some great color in combination with car-sofas and gaspumps i planning to restore. However i don't even looking for one because i know they are out of my pricerange.
Until My brother ask if i want buy his friends-fathers jukebox!!! For 15000sek aproximately $2100.
It have a damaged plasticpanel on each side but the others was in good shape he said. I ask if he had a picture. -No. So i ask if my brother could try to describe it.
-You know a usual jukebox with lights and buttons!!!! glare Ok (i think) $2100 probably something from 60's or 70's due to the higher price in this corner of the world.
After a week i ask if he had get any pic's yet, He haven't. The week went on and in the end of the summer i meet the son to the seller of the jukebox.
I ask if it was sold. and how it looks like. -Yes it's sold directly at "blocket" (swedish craigslist) and it was for 78's and have rotating color and it bubbles!!!!!
darn darn darn darn darn I should jump on the telephone and run to the car directly.

However next winter i spend much time on the internet searching for a 1015 and then i find OMT 100cd 1015 in Denmark for half of the usual (craigslist) price.
Of course the real deal from 46-47 have much brighter color and real crome ornaments but i never regret that i buy a OMT cd, i use it almost everyday.

The history was never ending. Last week i find (but never call) a Ami continental II with missing amplifier and a door on the side, 2 hours from me. for a 1/8 of the usual price. I thinking to slooooow  down help

Here is my baby!
