This just in from Cranberry Township, PA--Authorities have evidence that two members of the SMC Michigan Mafia were spotted in Cranberry Township, a bedroom community located north of Pittsburgh. Local SMC collectors were astounded that these two could make their way into the Keystone State and get such a good deal on an embossed Coca Cola Ideal 55. The seller's only comment was, "They made me an offer I couldn't refuse!". We will continue to monitor this story and bring you photos as they become available.

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

Tim and I just got back from the 10 hour trip to PA and back. Special thanks go out to Tim for not only finding this machine for me, but especially to go and get it with me. I really appreciate it Tim! If I could have just gotten Tim to pay for it, I'd be all set!
Tim's wife grew up not far from where we were today in PA, and Tim was able to strategically pick the drop off/exchange location within 100 yards from the beer store that sold us Yuengling Beer to take back home! Bonus!!! Is that great planning, or what?
The seller bought it 20 years ago and somebody had painted it brown and tan before he got it. He planned on restoring it someday, but never got around to it (sound familiar?). Coin mech is a glasco mech and is complete, although jacked up a bit. No worries...I have a complete Ideal mech for it instead. Soon, this ugly machine will make its way to Pat's house for a complete restoration, and brought back to life. Here is a pic the seller took of me and Tim loading up in the BK parking lot. More pics to follow.
Overall, a great day and life is good!

I was glad that when I tripped across this machine that it was still available and Slider-Bob was able to get it. We could not have picked a better day for a road trip and we successfully avoided the many OH and PA State Police that we passed along the way. The hard part was leaving the beer in the cases and not drinking it on the way home. Bob only paid $2,500 which I thought was a good deal based on an past episode of Hard Core Pawn Detroit! Bob said that once Pat restores the machine that he is going to sell it to me for $250! Or did I dream that part? The brown and tan paint job is rather unique. I think that was an Ideal option available between June 1956 and March 1957 called "the full Cleveland"! Maybe you should just put woodgrain contact paper on the lid and call it restored! Anyway, a good road trip, kind of felt like American Pickers! The machine is now safe and sound in Bob's Secret Slider Storage area until it makes a trip to Pat's place for a little TLC! Hope to see everyone at the Michigan lunch next month and that there are more good stories to share. Time to crack a beer and watch a little TV. Tim PS--Thanks for the slider manual and the case of beer Bob!
