I a buying a machine from someone this week and he also has a vendo 83. I can get it rather cheap and it is complete but it is unknown if it cools. What is the machine worth in parts? I know V83 drums used to sell well but I have not sold one in a long time. What is a drum worth? Also does anyone need any parts? I am not looking to make a fortune I want to just make enough to pay for its price and help cover the cost of the other machine. I am buying the Vendo decorator and am paying a little too much for it but I really need it. My Mom just got marred and I am buying it for my new step Dad as a wedding gift. He is a harley nut and I am going to replace the brown plastic front with polished aluminum diamond plate and painting the cabinet black and orange and doing a harley theme. He saw a drawing Eric did a long time ago when I was thinking of doing one a while back and he loved it and said he had to have one so I have been looking for a V56 decorator to do this to since I got home. here is a pic of both machines.

Josh,

I know the cabinet is the same as a Vendo 110.  Also, you might get a slug rejector out of it that can bring some cash.

Last drum I saw struggled to get $50 if I remember correctly and I think it had other stuff with it too.
Mech and rejector are unique to the 83 as far as soda machines go...rejector might work in a Stoner, but that depends on what model rejector is in it. Joey just sold an 83 mech on eBay for a whopping $9.99!
I wouldn't even waste my time or effort with it.

I think I made less than $100 parting out the 83 I owned, and that was when the market was much better.

my problem is I have to take both to get one. I can get both for $200. He really wants the decorator. I will have to think about it. If i can get $100 out of it in parts I would be happy. He said the cabinet is solid. Maybe I can get $50 for it as a donor to a 110 or maybe keep it and look for a rusty 110 to use the cabinet for.

I didn't try to sell the cabinet. Mine was for the drum, coin mech and the shelving around the compressor area.. Probably get a few bucks for that..

I wouldnt buy either. You want to make money buy what sells stick to the desirable models. 33, 39, 44, 56, 81 even 110 etc. I wouldnt waste my time on a 83 or a decorator. There just isnt enough demand for a 83 or even parts.

As far as the decorator I am only getting it because it is what my step Dad wants. He also wants a Pinto station wagon to restore so I don't think he cares about value  biggrin I don't think I will argue with him wanting a cheap machine. I am happy he doesn't want an 81, 39,110 or 56 as I would then buy him one of those. This way I have saving a ton of money:) I have to pay $200 if I take one machine or both so I might as well make something back off of the 83 if I can. I found two other decorators and they are all in the $200 range so at least with this one I get something back on it.
