Hi Gang Time to start thinking about the Chicago Show. Who's going this year? I've met several members over the last couple of years at the Show and I really look forward to seeing everyone. So let's see who's gonna make it. The second part of this thread is to discuss how the economy has affected the collectables market, and ultimately how it will affect prices, and attendance at the show. I've seen prices driven down on the more common stuff, but the ultra-rare items still bring top-dollar. I understand their was little buying at Carlisle, and Hershey is coming up this week, so we will see how that goes. Personally I think it will be either great, or terrible, with no in-between. That's why I always try to buy and sell before hand, and exchange machines at the show. I must say, with gas so ridiculously high, it's not cost effective to drive to the show in the future. What do you all think?

I hear you on the gas prices. I hate to drive those 25 miles I wil be there with my kids. They still enjoy it, so I still go. I usually go on Friday and just cruise the parking lot, and then Saturday with the boys. I'm thinking that there will be deals because of the economy, but as you mentioned, the gas prices will detere just the regular out of state onlookers. I just can't figure out why I'm always broke before the show I should be broke after the show. Time to play the lottery again! See you at the show.

I won't be going, looking for a house to s unstore and display the stuff I have now in.
And the market has tanked for pretty much all collectables. It's great if you are a buyer looking, and there are still sales going on, but niothing like it was 2-3 years ago. I think, and this is only a gut feeling it will be another 304 years before a rebound

I'm more than likely going. This time it will be with family in tow. We have relatives on her side that live very close tho Pheasant Run & St. Charles so that while I'm cruising the parking lots they'll probably be fast asleep! The only thing that would prevent us from going is the possibility of my younger brother in-law (Marine Corps, C-130 Flight Engineer) and sister in-law (Army National Guard, Radar Repairer) both returning from the Middle East, one from Iraq and the other from Afghanistan. He was supposed to come home this past weekend but got delayed indefinitely and elements of my sisters brigade are getting ready to start trickling back in. So......I hope to be there but no promises!

I'm planning on going as of now.. barring any unforseen circumstances.. I'm bringin a buddy to help offset the gas, plus I'd like to presell or prebuy a few things as well and look for one or two things at the show.. i'll be in the market for PARTs for my U-POP-IT Machine and for parts for my Barqs 81 square top... I've talked with a coupe of guys who havent' responded yet on this thread and would love to get together with everyone if it worked out? maybe lunch...

will not be able to go to the show, but tom knows what i like and will buy me anything that is cool and rare, three years in a row he has got me something great, a good friend and a great guy, sometimes i find you will find a better price these days if you can find it restored at the show, then trying to restore it, as dealers are giving away things they restored and need money. jeff wolf

Hi Leonard Nope, I didn't get that one. Just stole the picure. I really like the way they did that one. I lost everything I had archived on my computer a few months back when the hard drive crashed.
Brian B. Tell your Bro + Sis-in-law we all said "Thankyou"
Larry Your killin' me....
Lunch or Dinner on Thursday seems to be an ideal time for all to meet.
