Tom,
I agree with everything said here... It would be great to have that list to check while or before bidding and the we could contact that person directly as to understand intentions on the item being bid on... I did win the Vendo 81 B that was on ebay Saturday night for $1025!! I am pretty psyched about it as it's local, Typically I only bid on machines that are within a reasonable drive for me... I was going to post the fact that I was bidding on it and tell others it was local for me, but too was concerned that a "Visitor" would catch wind and bid against me. INstead it was a fellow SMC member '<img'>
I like the idea of "Claiming" or at least notifying members of something that we really want... Especially if it's Close to that person and shipping is not an issue, as I am sure we all agree that is a big win when it's local!...
COllecture:... I agree that machine would have went for 735 if we would have communicated, ... and the fact that it wasn't advertised well . I called the seller and talked to her for 10 minutes about the machine. Typically little old lady story,.... didn't know what she had.... I'm still happy with the 1025... Picking it up tomorrow or Wednesday!

Here is a thought , Jim is there any way that this could be add to the control panel or when you first sign up  to be a member ask if there is a ebay user name  then some how have that sent to Creighton to add to the list.

This is just a thought .

When an item like the 81B is not advertised well, I would never post anything either. I was actually the first to bid on it and was hoping  '<img'>  that not many people would find it and I would get it for $9.99. When I see an item not advertised well, I always put a bid in to prevent the seller from changing the title or description.
I glad a fellow member got it anyway - too bad it couldn't have been a better deal for you. If I had really wanted it (and I do eventually want an 81B and C and D), my bid would have been higher - but from the bidding, I figured $1000 might take it. I really don't see too many machines locally here, so I keep trying for decent deals with shipping.
Joey and I & Glen and I have had our crossovers and we need to stop running the price up on each other. I think the Frappr Map helps to know where people are. I have simply emailed Joey when I see something near him and I have emailed Glen here and there with items I find in his area. Sometimes communication outside of the public forums is the best way.
Oh well, let's figure something out so this doesn't keep happening!

It would have to be an optional thing and not required to join. Some may not have an eBay account and others may not want to reveal it.

Keeping 200 SMC members away from an item is a drop in the bucket, when you consider how many other E-bay bidders that may also be watching it.
If Sleepwalk had seen this 81, nobody here would have won it!   This auction was still open to everybody else, and that should be considered when sniping.

Oh Yeah that  should be the way it should work's  as a optional deal
and a side note as in why we would want this, I'll bet you get a
 better response.

I would be glad to communicate with others about what I am looking at on Ebay.  I would not want to step on anyone's feet here either.
I am a long way from getting to join the elite forum, so how would I know?

Like Moondawg mentioned though.  I don't think it is really us who we have to worry about.  It is the other people not in this group we have to worry about.

Also, Collecture mentioned he bids on small items when he finds them.  I know some guys who always look to see what the "big guys" are buying so they can sneak in and get it.

I also know some people in the gas and oil hobby who have 2 Ebay IDs one for selling and one for buying.  I don't want to give anyone here any ideas, but that could be bad.
