Seeburg C question
«

Anyone good with Jukeboxes? I have another Seeburg C that I am going to work on but I need advice on the record mech. My juke powers up and takes credits but once a selection is made the mech does not move to go get the record. After selecting the song it does nothing. This is a wonderfully complete and clean Juke. I am going to sell it but I would like to have it working first. Any suggestions?

Mine does that every once in awhile. The pinbank might be dirty.

I'll bet some of the contacts in the selection cycle are dirty...
Just for kicks and giggles, locate the motor/carriage switches and see if you can operate the carriage manually... There are two switches for the "C", on the left side below the support bracket. The switch towards the back controls motor function and should be set towards the back, if this switch is forward, the carriage will not move under normal conditions. The other momentary switch, scan, will move the carriage back and forth as necessary to load records or just service operations. If the carriage moves manually, I would suspect dirty contacts somewhere in the cycle...
Josh, do the selection buttons latch properly?
And after the letter/number selection is made, do they reset?

Without looking at the machine. The first thing to check if the mech isn't cycling is to make sure the 4 mech hold down bolts are backed all the way out, if they are cranked down, it won't cycle.

Thanks for the help. I got it to work. It was the switch. It now selects and picks up the records just fine. You can faintly hear the music and all of the tubes light up but not much sound. I am sure it needs an amp rebuild. I will be selling it soon. It's a really nice solid juke.

I'd defiantely do an amp and receiver rebuild. If you are comfortable soldering, and reading a schematic, it's not difficult. If not, you can shop it out. But after 60 years, it's almost a requirememnt
