Just picked up this clock today while out visiting a client, It's a Cleveland Neon Products Coca-Cola Marquee Clock. It lights up with white neon on the inside. it has some fading, but in really good condition. The whole face is plastic and only one small ding in it . the cabinet had been repainted years ago, but overall I'm very happy to finally have found one... and best of all right here in my own home town!!! If you know anything about Coke Advertising stuff.. You'll know this clock is a very sought after item and I'm glad I could finally find one..

That is a really really nice clock! We had one when I was growing up hanging in our living room up in the peak of the vaulted ceiling. It made a great nightlight.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it.. I'm gonna take it apart for a thourough cleaning, and repaint the can as it was repainted years ago, and I want to take it back to the original Hammer Tone Green it was originally...then gotta finda place to hang it.. it's huge, 36" wide by 30" high... weighs about 20 lbs. There is one on a ebay live auction in November, will be fun to see what it brings...

That's really cool ! I had seen one like that in Royal Crown Cola in red and yellow. I really wanted to buy it for my RC Cola collection but it was waaaay outta my price range. $1200 back in the early 1990's.

John,
Without sounding to skeptical, can you verify this is an original CC advertising clock...? There have been many good reproductions over the years for many of the soda brands... Very nice Cleveland none the less ! ! !
I'm working on acquiring an old neon clock as we speak... Hopefully, it'll pan out...

Thanks Jim, I am 100% certain it's original. I know there have been are still are some fantasy and repopped clocks out there, most of those have been limited to the PAM style Clocks and Double Bubble Clocks. The only part that I know that has been reproduced for this clock is the marquee top piece and was availble for a short time, until the Coke police put a stop to it.. Waynes clocks has the other branded marquess for Rc Cola, Pepsi, and 7up. He no longer has the coke top on his site. Generally when it comes to these items, you can just tell the craftsmanship, what it's made of , and the general look and feel of the item. I am 100% certain it's the real deal and someone would have to prove to me different. iF it where shiney as a penny with no fading and things like a 50+ year old item would have, I would have definatlely been skeptical before buying it.

:Great find John , So this belonged to one of you clients ? it is very cool congrats on the great find. Yes Pat, On my desk in my office, i have a collage of pop machines, gas pumps and advertising and it reads , " I collect vintage pop machines, gas pumps and related advertising". when a customer sits at my desk to go over the insurance, they all see it and I have had a few "hits" off it so far. This story, I'll make it short, went like this. Client comes into my office , talks about insurance, sees my ad and says he has this old coke clock in his garage. Said he got in in 1953 from Coke when he owned a Gas station in southern wisconsin. He took it off the building and with him in 77 when he sold the station nad it's been hanging in his garage for the past 20 years or so. I asked about it and wanted to see it when I went out to his place to finalize the insurance. I made an offer to buy it right then and there, (just happend to have some $$ in my pocket, in case) We agreed upon a price and I took it home. SUre wish he had a whole garage full of stuff from that old Gas STation , but I can't complain! Pays to advertise what you collect, you never know what you'll find.. This clock has been righ here in my home town for years, would have never known about it without the ad..

Great looking clock Jim, was it made for any specific brand of soda or gas/oil company or just a generic neon clock.. .I especially like the rats nest on the bottom of it..

No particular brand, just blue and red numbering, blue hands and a blue body. What is unusual to me is the second neon tube is behind the semi-translucent face. You can make it out in the second photo, just inside the numbers.

Great looking Cleveland Jim! There is one just like that hanging on the side of a building in my home town in Ohio. I have tried to buy it for a long time. I can never seem to get the right person. But everyone I talk to says a lot of people have tried to buy it over the years. It is always on but hasn't shown the right time for as long as I can remember. They are great looking clocks and they are in very high demand. Luckily almost all of the parts are available

Leonard,
This one was on a red brick building that had at one time been a store. It is on a side street down in old Loveland. The building is next to the lumber yard and next to the building is a huge sign that is embossed 7up but has been painted over many times and it is hard to see the embossing. If its still there and you see you are welcome to try and get it. I just hated seeing it outside rusting and not even showing the right time.

The one I know of is in NW PA. It is hanging inside the front window and is pink I believe. Maybe I will ask about it around Christmas.

My parents had given me a Texaco gas card when I was 16-17. I found a Texaco that sold beer and alcohol and rang it up as gas. Dad couldn't figure out how I could use $200 in gas each month, then he set up an account deal with one particular gas station and took the card away. Sounds funny now saying "$200 gas in a month" like it is a lot, but it was in the mid-70's.

Tom.. that is too funny... it brings back memories of when my buddies father used to give my buddy the gas card... gas stations don't sell beer in NJ, but we used to charge smokes, food and anything else the Sunoco had at the time... they would also give cash back as well... His father must have been either very naive or stupid...
