Having seen another thread with how to use a serial number to work out the date on their machine. Is this possible with the Cavaliers?

Mine looks like 245175, and any help appreciated. I don't have the kick-plate like the later models, but then again it looks like I have a C-102 door fitted, so anything is possible.

Cheers

Nick ~

As far as I know, the serial number dating technique only works on Vendo machines.  Unfortunately, the other manufacturers didn't make dating their machines nearly as easy!

Your machine looks really unique having the C-102 looking door!  I like it!

I'm getting ready to restore my Pre-war British candy vendor that I just got (with Dave's help), so I know the challenge of finding info on things from across the pond!

Vendo was the only one  that incorporated the date into  the serial number, and  I'm not sure how far into production years it was done

With Cavaliers, or Vendolators, you may  find the years of production on web sites or  in a Jeff Walter's Soda Machine Book

Oh, welcome to the boards. And it's a cool machine. Trust me it will look great next to a pinball table.

The serial number thing works for Vendo machines of the 50's.  Steve Ebner at Funtronics has a code sheet for the Cavalier 51.  If you tell him the serial #, he can tell you the month and year.  I don't think there was any pattern to it like the Vendos.

Yeah I kinda realised it wasn't the best subject line about 2 second after hitting the post button!

Typing the same phrase into google was even more of a discovery  blush  No idea on the date of my C-51 but I'm meeting an interesting 'open minded' young lady 2moro night  drinking

Cheers Leonard

Handy tip to know - but I took the easy option and gave the serial number to Steve at Funtronics and he gave me the date.

Cheers
