Westy 44 - Knocking compressor.

Hi Guys

Got my compressor fan and have fitted it. Re-wired some of it too.

Fired it up and now I'm getting a knocking noise. Sounds like its coming from
the compressor. Thought it was the fan first of all but that seems fine.

Sounds like something is loose inside. Didn't happen the last time I let it run.

I'm letting it run now to see if it cycles okay. The pipes are frostuing up okay

Any clues plse......

Right Guys

sorted out the knock... The fan against the main cord as I put the deck back in. Now no knocking noise.

The machine is getting nice and cool and is running quiet but I have had it on for well over an hour and it has run constant. I was thinking its time it shut down.

I have also turned the T Stat setting right down and the compressor has failed to go off. The other machines I've had if I turned it right down it turned off.

So new problem same machine???

Hi Ya Wayne (still using the bits and pieces you sent me last time, Ties and clips etc)

I now have it cycling but I'm not sure if its working correctly.
Gets lovely and cold. It shuts off and re-starts but not sure if that is becasue the over ride is kicking in
or because the T Stat is working ocrrectly.

Have not been in the room long enough to time the stops and starts. Have felt the compressor and its not excessively hot. It runs nice and quiet too. Fingers crossed I might be lucky...

If you can get to the probe easily, you can roughly determine where the 32 degree Fahrenheit mark is on the stat.  Get a cup of ice water and put the end of the probe in it.  If the machine is off, turn up the stat until the machine comes on.  If the machine is on, turn the stat down until it shuts off.  You can even do this with the stat disconnected from the machine.  Just turn the dial and listen for the click.  Good luck and count my crossed fingers in, too!
