Hi,

The person who had this machine before me added a free vend switch.
I was just wondering, is it possible to have the switch but have it also accept coins too?

Right now I have it set to .05 and it works fine if you put coins in, but if you ever push the free vend button. It always automatically ejects .05 into the change return slot.

I would prefer it not do that every time..

Is it possible?

If the free-play switch is wired between pins 1 & 3 of the coinmechs female jones socket it should work fine with or without the coinmech plugged in.  Try setting the price to a higher amount, say 25-cents & see if that take care of the returned nickle problem. I suspect a miswired switch.

How he did it was spiced into the 2 outer wires on the switch.
and ran the wire up to the free vend switch.

Was that the correct way for him to have done it?

Sounds like he tapped into the dime switch & ran it over to the "free-vend" switch, this is why it's giving you a nickel in change, ( wired this way the machine thinks it's getting a dime & since it's pricing is set at 5-cents, it's giving you the correct change back.) this way will work if you set the price to a dime, then it will stop giving you back a nickel.

if you search under "free-play switch" you'll find the prefered connections at the jones plug to hook up your mech.

Would you happen to have any pics of how you wired it up?

I saw the threads and the image of how to wire it up, but just wanted to see a real world pic on how/where you connected the wires.

Thanks!
