I am looking at a Vendolator VF A 56 7-up machine that dispenses cans.  Can anyone tell me the approximate age of such a machine?  When did they first start dispensing cans?

Welcome to the site!  You'll like it here.  The machine you have is a Vendorlator 56.  I have the exact same 7-Up machine, except mine is configured for bottles.  The date stamped on the tank of my machine was 8/26/1964, so yours is around that time, too.  I also have a VMC 56 can machine.  That one was not date stamped, but these were made in the 60's.

The only difference between the can and bottle machines are the shelves and the rack.  Yours should have a flap to pull which "kicks" out a can.  With a bottle machine, you just pull the neck of the bottle.

Again, welcome.
