Dave, I honestly have no idea about it vending large bottles. I doubt it though. Do you all have the 16.9oz bottles? If you do I bet they will vend. The book says an average machine is $1,150. Yours doesn't look too bad so I would say that he is asking about book value for a machine in that condition. The bottom pan shouldn't be that hard to replace but it will have to be professionally done and the same place can make you the bottom piece. They are rare machines here so Ill bet you won't find another one over there. They are good looking machines. Good luck deciding.

Here the 50 and 56 are the same cabnet. This is what the missing pannel looks like. It would be easy to replace.

After looking at the pics better the missing cover is inside the machine up by the evaporator. That pannel is removable to allow better access to the cooling system. Someone has just removed it to have a better look at the compressor and never put it back. Dave if you can spare the money I would say get it. That is one heck of a nice machine. It is also generic so you could even personalize it if you wanted.

The other thing I have concerns about is parts. There doesn't seem to be a great market for repro parts on
this model. Do you know whether parts from the range are inter-changeable??

It looks complete to me. All of the lenses are repoped and the cooling system is easily repaiable. And the vending mech looks complete. I wouldn't worry too much about parts. Some body work, replace the bottom pannel, and a good paint job and it could be a really nice machine. The two jacobs that I have had were in not so great shape. On both the electrical was a mess. but with some new wires they both fired up and cooled right away. Also these machines did not use standard wiring harnesses. They were just used individual wires that go to a junction block so rewiring is easy.

Unique machine... would love to have a Jacobs....
If the rust isn't rot through I think I'd go for it just because of the style
not too many of these around..... wonder why... wonder if they were a short run
or a small company or what but would look SWEET restored taking a bottle along to
see if it fits will show him you're serious and and it doesn't take the bigger bottle and the rust
is pointed out... may drop the price a little.... good luck.... between this one and the RT 56
that JohnieG is going to look at this weekend hope it'll be a great weekend for finds for all.

Josh - How about the automatic vend. Have you seen this in operation. Is there anything I need to have an eye out for there??? How does it work etc.

I can see that you have a real passion of these machines. I'm away this weekend on a min break with the family so will be stopping by the machine on the way home. This is my last oppotunity to ask questions. I think I've made my mind up and will go for it.

The vend mech looks really similar to the mechanical vend model. On the mechanical 56 the coin mech unlocks the vend gate and the bottle uses its own weight to fall through. On the electric model as far as I can see from your pics it is just a sylanoid that unlocks the same pece and the bottle falls through. It is really simple. Once you see how it works it is probably the most basic vending mech I have ever seen.
