This has been a great month. First I scored a Vendo 81B for 50.00 dollars and now I own the machine that I have been searching for, locally, for about 1 year. After parting with the 81B to a good friend a fellow addic, Vendobaldtops, I headed north to San Rafael. Their I scored a nice straight, original and complete vendo 56 round top. It has all the original parts and it even cools. The owner said it sat in his house for 10years he never got around to it. Since this score completes me, I will not be serching for any more machines this year but now focus on restoration. I have also been motivated in this direction from my wife threatening me. '>
Will post pics soon, via friend.

Well I paid a fair price for it. Not the killer deal I got w/the 81B, 1500.00. But at lest I bought it locally and did not have to pay shipping fees.
I'm Happy!

We can't always find killer deals. Or in my case, never. '> Anyway, still a great price for an amazing machine that will only continue to increase in value. Very cool! I have always wanted an old 56. Good for you.

Yeah.... you're “done” till another machine pops up tempting you... You'll find you can't pass them up cause when will the chance come along again?... I still haven't restored anything.... stuff pops up... then just when I thought I could and took my 81 apart the 56 showed up last year.... You may have been bitt'n by the collectors bug and you just don't know it yet!
And of course I close with... Need pics of the 56! Great machine and score...Congrats!!!

Great find on the 56. I also told my wife I was done. That was 3 jukeboxes, 4 gas pumps, 2 candy machine 5 soda machines ago. I told her if I bought any more "junk" I would seek professional counceling. I just did not tell her that I consider the "discussion area" on Soda-machines.com professional help.

Thanks guys.
The bottle door is not the glass type but a solid door w/ gray metal on the top and bottom. I wish it was a foggy glass. The coin mech on the machine does not provide change, so the flag is allways in the same position. It is a very nice mech that needs to be cleaned. Its all complete but needs a tune up to work, I have no idea, on cleaning and adjusting it. I guess I well let it sit and get to it when I restore it. I pluged it in yeasterday, it cooled and hummed like a champ.

Jim has posted a great pdf file on the large door coin mech. I have page in a section of one of my manuals (it is also probably in the scans timsmore is working on) that details where and how to lubricate the large door mech. I didn't do a thing on my VMC DP mech except break down and clean the rejector thoroughly. Works like a champ now.

How did you clean the rejector (boiling water/warm water/ how long)?? What did you use to clean it?? What type of lub do you use??
Thanks

Victor, Remove the slug rejector. Spray everything down with a couple of cans of Areosol solvent. You can also run it it through the dishwasher on high heat. Use a penetrating oil like 3in1 only on the vending shaft. Dis-assemble and clean the coin paths on the slug rejector using 000 steel wool and re-install. Do not use any oil in the coin paths. '>

I usually completely break down the rejector. Every bolt, nut spring - all of it. They are not rocket science and all of them are basically the same. The only difference between them is the adjustments. I take everything and wash it well with soap and water. OOO steel wool or an SOS pad on the main plate, but just soap and water on the other parts. If the coin cradle posts are cruddy, I might take a Dremel brass wire brush to them, but usually a couple of twists with the OOO steel wool will do the trick. All the coin cradles are usually brass and will polish up real nice and shiny. I usually give the coin cradle post holes a reem or two with a solvent soaked pipe cleaner and a shot of powdered graphite before I reassemble it. Lastly, I make the adjustments to the separators and deflectors using my NRI N/D/Q test slugs. I usually do all of this depending on how nice I want it. They work flawlessly after all of this is done and don't need much attention afterwards.
