I talked to Terry and Sean last night. Leroy called all three of us by phone and is trying to get us into a bidding war. We made him our offers, and now the ball is in his court.

Glen,

When I asked him how much he wanted, his reply was he saw one like it (I am assuming a Coke 81) go on eBay recently for $1830, plus shipping.  He may not know how much it's really worth.  He then said "we'd talk about price."

Good luck.

Glen,

Did the discussions go well and what kind of price range has been established if he wants "bidding wars"...?

My six cents,

I have been in the dentist chair all morning!!! I agree with Glen, we are being pulled into a bidding war. Glen and I have an agreement on the 7up machine. I have called Leroy and left him a message on my bid price. Although I want the machine, I am not going to run the price up on Glen.  '<img'>

This post has been quiet for 24 hours...I hope it is because someone is taking a roadtrip to get the machine!  Fingers crossed!

I am hoping that Glen has been on a road trip today to Sacramento to get the machine. I really wanted the machine but as I said earlier Glen and I made an agreement and I'm a man of my word. Had it been anyone else outside of SMC they would have to of beat me to it.

You guys read the tea leaves. Yes MoonDawg left Ventura at 3:30 this morning for a 450 mile trip 1 way to find an address in a little mining town near lake Tahoe where Sutter's mill still exists and the first gold nugget was found sparking the 1848 Calif gold rush.  What an adventure!  OK  900 miles and 16 hours later the Dawg returns, with a VMC 7up 81  proudly in back of his truck.
Thanks Wayne / Terry / Sean....what a rush owning such a rare machine, it's very straight too. It was left over from a motel his parents owned in the sixties.
Price?  Let me just say, Leroy was happy!! ( He lives in a cabin in the mountains and builds Harleys)
I have a rust inhibitor I sometimes spray on surface rust, then wash it off, and works well on white paint surfaces. You have seen the old pic's, let's find out how good this machine can look without new paint.  Will post pic's in a few days.

SMC saves an orphan machine!  Thanks to all!!!!!
