OK.. you guys got me hooked on this stuff already, and I am looking everywhere I go for something to jump out at me. In our warehouse, I found 2 machines in decent shape... a Cavalier USS-8-64 - SN 279954 Vendo V/VF63/7
Both I believe to be working... The Cavalier works for sure as we just unplugged it a year or 2 ago cause we didn't want to stock it anymore. The Vendo has been sitting for more than 12 years. I'll try to get some pics shortly. I like the style of my 83 better, but these are kinda cool too. Are these something I should load into my truck and find more room in the garage for? (my wife is going to be soo happy '>)

Bubba,
Those machines aren't doing anyone any good at work... Bring them home! And lastly, you'll soon find out that there will never be enough room!

I'm gonna have to plan this for a time when the wife is out for awhile. I may end up putting padding on top and calling that my bed! Now I am really kicking myself. As a kid, I used to collect beer bottles and soda bottles. Over the years, making room for more toys, most of my collection is gone.... So I think my new years resolution is to never throw away anything ever again!
Is there anyway to date these machines with the serial number? I saw the Vendo63 was made for almost 30years? Does the age matter or is it just the model that is important?

Have you looked at the soda-machines section? It has a listing by manufacture, then various models from the manufacture. Tries to show a picture, or at least an image, and gives some starting specs. A place to start, then some of the people here will flesh it out with what they know. Very helpful group. Welcome aboard.

You might as well start making plans for a "soda shed". The garage won't hold them all. . . You are starting to show signs of "the symptoms".

You're hooked! Check out the photo gallery and some of the collections and when your wife thinks you have too much stuff have her check this guy out up North - www.falvocollectables.com - I look at this stuff as an investment also. Most here would agree... I've never lost money on this stuff... Anytime I get in a bind... I sell a few things the wifes happy then I buy something better.
Yeah with those machines you're gonna need signs, bottles, a couple candy machines, a gas pump, a few clocks and a dispenser or two... You're just getting started... It's all good!

Welcome!
I bought my first machine last October & I currently have 6 machines. Plus I have sold two machines to friends. The key is when the boss gets upset put one up for sale. Note I said put one up for sale but that does not mean it will sell.
Now the V-63 you have what are your plans for it? Can or bottle?

Kevin.... I don't think I am going to sell any of them yet. I need to see how far I get into this before I part with them. If I decide to part, I'll let you know. I'm still in the 'awe' stage. I need to see what I can get away with at home first. Where are you located? I'm in NJ, and the machines are currently in Newark.

PS welcome... as Kevin said this grows on you. My first machine was purchased Dec 28 2004. I've sold 4 machines and have 4... 5 if your USS64 becomes an affordable option

Right now, the V-63 and the USS-64 are sitting in our shop in Newark. I brought the V-83 home today. I'm still not sure what I am doing with these 2 yet. My wife is already calling me Fred Sandford with all the "stuff" I bring home. If I do decide to get rid of these 2 machines, I'll let you guys know. I wish I discovered this sooner... I was in a factory that went out of business about 6 months ago and there were 2 old machines sitting there I probably could have grabbed. I have now told all my workers to keep their eye out as they go to job sites.

Just dont let them know you have the soda machine bug or you may end up with competition for machines.

Do like Josh did for kate and buy your wife a nice little Cavalier chest. I think she'd like it better than any other. It's small and doesnt take up much room.

I guess I'm starting to show the symptoms of "IT", as well. I got the Choice Vend in August, the Cavalier 64 a month or two later, and with no room and the Choice Vend not working, I'm still looking for a good can vendor.
My collection is definitely small. There was a time though I thought I'd never own a Coke machine, now I have two.
I wouldn't mind having a USS machine, but I'd prolly have to luck up and find one around here.

Nice!!! I really like the Vendo 63. the USS-64 is a late model. It was made sometime in the really late 70's to early 80's. The Vendo 63 is late 60's to early/mid 70's. The Vendo is a can only vendor and the Cavalier is both bottles and cans.

I like the 63. Its in pretty good shape. I haven't plugged it in yet, but I believe it works. I thought I saw in the machine section that the V-63 did bottles up to 12oz? The full model # is V/VF63/7 Vending Capacity: 63-6-10oz; 56-12oz Bottles
Precool Capacity: 16 Bottles
Is it something internal that can be set for either? I was hoping to set it up with bottles.. The Cavalier will only do the small 6.5 oz bottles?

Man I've been looking for another can machine. You are very lucky to have one, less hassle looking for bottles, cans are cheaper. I'd keep that one for cans, and use the other as a bottle machine.
That looks great it's the first 63 I've seen that actually has no damage to the coin door!!!
How does the insides look? Got a key?

There are two differen't bottle stacks for the 63. The bottle stack has 7 round holes you pull the bottles through. Your stack has 7 little flappers. You pull up the flappers and it pushes out a can. The Cavalier will vend any size glass bottle and even some of the plastic ones. The shelves are adjustable.

The Vendo is pretty clean inside, all shelving is in tact. It needs a good wipe down, but no real rust. I'll post some pics of the inside tomorrow. I don't have the key, but from what I've heard our warehouse guy used to keep his beer in it... he's been gone for 13years, but he was nice enough to leave that machine unlocked. The Cav is locked and I can't find the key anywhere. We ran that machine up until about 5 years ago when the key went MIA. I've got a box of keys around that I went through the other day with no luck. So I guess that lock will meet my drill soon.
I want to give these machines a good cleaning before I bring them home. I'm not sure what or where all the electric is on either of these machines. Is it safe to use a powerwasher and mild soap to clean these machines? I've got no problem drying the compressor and components with air, but I don't know what else I should worry about. If the compressor cools, I don't think I will do anything to these machines, but use them, so I want to be careful with it.

Ken - the machines are pretty hardy. I pressure wash all of them and then let them air dry for a day or two before plugging them in. Just leave it on a slight slant so the water drains and doesn't pool.

Looks good. That will clean up nicely. Also go buy some Simple Green cleaner from an auto parts supply store or walmart. It really helps. Before I bought a power washer I always put my machines in the back of my tuck and took them to the do it yourself car wash. Just stand it up when you get there and spray it out. It does a great job. Make sure to get the compressor area really well. Ill bet that will clean up really nice. Josh

I've got a washbay in our shop that I used to clean the V83 before I brought it home. I'll grab some of the Simple Green as the stuff we normally use kinda damaged the pain on the other machine. Thanks for the info... People at the carwash probably look at you funny cleaning a soda machine '> I know the looks I get cleaning my quad at these places...
