I come check out the site about once a week. Nothing has been posted in 2 months. Is there a new site?

Just a sign of the times... People have migrated to other platforms with facebook being the primary attraction as anyone can setup a page and say they have a website! Too many groups to keep track of and interact with plus it's a bit cumbersome to navigate and find things! Especially posts that I want to go back to... JMHO

Still here. I must admit I enjoyed this hobby a lot more when it was just us and this site. With FB and all the sites there I definitely don't enjoy it as much, some strange, and I'm being nice, people on there. I'm to blame though because nobody is twisting my arm to be on there.

I have completely sworn off FB so I have no part there. I hope this site continues. To me it is THE site for expertise in this hobby.

I'm not on FB either. Though I haven't needed to do much to my Cavalier 72 in a while, it was always fun to see what others are doing to theirs.

This fact right here!!! The search feature on this site is the biggest value. Nobody searches anything on Facebook. Just endless post after post about someone wanting to know the value of another Vendo 83. In my opinion, you should take the history of posts in this site and sell it as a searchable database. The info here is invaluable. It’s an unmatched resource.

I’m still here too. Agree that it was much better times before Facebook when we all knew each other. Not too keen on Facebook with so many different sites and no sense of friendship.

I check in from time to time.. when covid hit I joined Facebook to connect with local friends... joined a group that's my high school class and a few other groups that arent' soda related... finding other interest as soda stuff is going through the roof price wise... I think this site still is better than the groups on FB... so many come and go in those groups... not like it was here... Hope all are well...

I rarely get on anymore, but have made many friendships through this site! Kids and life just took over. I manage a visit every few months, but not nearly enough. Jim - I too miss the Home Page! Many times I've wanted to look for info on a model or manufacturer. And I have to agree, the knowledge base on this site is second to none!

I agree...now if we can only get the soda machines archives up & running again. I will put this on my "to do list" for the fall... May be a challenge as the database structures have changed alot from when SMC was first developed under the Joomla platform many years ago! I have heard the same sentiment from many people, "wish the soda machine reference section was back online"! I did have this information developed into a phone app; however, when A$$ple requested unrealistic features in "my" app, I only had the Android version leaving me defeated... I will definitely look into getting the Soda Machines Section back online ! ! !

I check in at least a few times per week. Obviously, some of the FB pages have taken over a lot of the traffic. It seems to me that everyone on SMC was more interested in the hobby rather than flipping a machine for a quick buck. Also, people were a lot more civil and willing to help someone that was new to the hobby. Thank you Jim! cannot be said enough for the knowledge base and network that your website created. Hope all the jerks are doing well! Tim

We talked a long time ago. I may be able to help you get the other site back online with a MySQL database. Let me know.

I don't check in like I should... still collect just not like I did... Other interest/hobbies now and family is getting older... our oldest got married last year and our youngest is starting college next week!!... where has time gone? I pop in and read old post and look at the awesome finds from back in the day... the post of the shows in Chicagoland and the dinners and meet up sitting with folks, in person, man I miss all that...great memories. But I'll still check in. Such a great site... such good people. Hope all are well.
