Hello everyone. I recently finished restoring my 72 and wanted to share some ohitos. The only modification I did was install an LED strip that runs along the inside channel. Can't see it at all and it works great. Please let me know if you have any questions.
This machine had the following done to it: -Body was walnut shelled to remove all the paint -Internal parts powder-coated -refrigeration unit was soda blasted and repainted -I also ended up applying some sound deadening material on the back side of the tub where the evaporator mounts. -Also, for the hell of it, I also glued some double reflect insulation to the back side of the tub in addition to the insulation.
It maintains mid 32-38 and turns on ever once every hour to hour and a half.
Thanks
Jerry

Nice job Jerry! Your lighting project brought up a good subject, and I hope you don't mind if I ask it here? After a lot of research, I found this......... http://www.ledlightsworld.com/side-view-flexible-led-light-strip-18-leds-p-133.html ....... to fit our needs the best. It's waterproof and the light shines off to the side, it's not 180 degree's like under-counter lights. It's also easy to clamp into the inner liner of any glass door machine. I order the voltage reducers separately BUT I hope someone can help me here: I heard it's the flow of voltage that determines the difference between white and blue light? Is this true? I would really like to have the soft white glow like the 81, any tricks?

The more the merrier. I purchased a waterproof roll of LEDs lights, power supply and a remote device all from Amazon. Here are a few photos of the install. I debated for some time but ended up drilling a tiny hole in the stainless, just big enough to slide the two small wires through, so the install would look clean. It is sealed up pretty good. I actually got the LED idea from mygoose101.
Here are some photos.

Everything seals up nicely and when the door is closed no light or wiring is visible. The remote works great too. Had it running for a couple of days when I was adjusting the T-Stat. No issues.

Looks great... I too have been looking into different lighting options and I think we as restorers need to come up with a more modern, solution to the replacement of the ballast fluorescent and now PRICEY" switches ...
I think LED would be the way to go...

Thanks for the props Jerry but I need to give credit where credit is due. The LED light idea came from Moondawg a couple of years ago. He installed his own light kit on a 72. Since then I ran with his idea by putting it on my 72 and also my 56. These LED lights are pretty much available anywhere now. It's a very easy install and looks fantastic.
