I find that part a little hard to believe.
I was thinking about that one a little bit earlier, it sounds like that guy was the one beating the drum getting everyone to contact the AG and contacting the local news to do a story on it. If Alan's lawyer/advisor had a head on their shoulders, they probably told him to send that machine for free and then tell the 'investigative' team what they did and have them follow up for some positive PR spin on the whole debacle.
