What's a good price for this generic Ideal 35, looks to be complete, but cooling is unknown? |

Can anyone with more experience chime in???       Kidding Bob, appreciate the response, you know your stuff.  I'm headed up north for a week and found this one at a consignment shop for $800, I wonder if they'd let me test the compressor in-store.  Is the power cord hard-wired on these or does it plug into a terminal block so I could bring in a cord and test it out? |

Bob Knows Nothing LOL    I would throw in my trunk a 20 ft extension cord !! I always take a 50 ft cord when I go to Auctions Just For testing |

Extension cord is an excellent idea! That way you can plug in the compressor only...bypassing possibly a bad power cord or thermostat. |

The wiring plug is tied to a terminal bock, but if that wiring is bad/suspect, there is also a separate wiring plug that plugs into the compressor. Unplug it and plug your extension into it to see if the compressor runs. Make sure the fan is running, and if its not, don't let it run longer than 5-10 minutes as it could overheat. Running 5-10 min, you should feel the galvanized tub on the front inside area by the rack start to get cold.
Even at $800 its priced fair, but I like $700 a hundred times better!  Good luck Tom. Call/PM me if you have any questions!

I think even a generic 35 slider with no color would be in the $700-$800 range as stated but still having nice color is a added plus for the price. |

If anyone is interested I have a Ideal 35 generic with rack and mech. It is missing the cap catcher, and compressor $450 takes her home!

Well I never got a chance to go out and check out the 35 when I was up in CT, too much time fishing! I'd take that trade any day! |
