Well there are people out there chatting, I think there alot of new people out there that have joined asked there one question and that the last you will here for them.then you have few that stay around for the run. Also there are the people that have been here a while who stop by and take a look around to see what going on and may or may not what to chat to any one. Or there some that live north were it is very ccccoold and don't want to freeze there *#@* off to work on a project till spring so there out there buying parts, machines, old tins ,bottle openers or what ever, I think I can safely say this site wont go away any time soon. I'm here about everyday. Always checking on the latest finds or questions. I have a few questions myself I've asked or parts I'm in need of. What I've noticed is that round tops have slowed down and there are more square top finds and questions. Of course this is expected as they (round tops) are drying up. About the only round tops you see are exchanges from one collector to another. To find a round top today is rare. But that doesn't stop me from looking and running want ads. And I agree about the cold.. being from the Midwest it's a little too cold to hunt but bring on the spring. Meanwhile I'll just make a list of parts I needs and take a few things apart to restore. We're not going anywhere.... just too busy admiring our finds from this past summer! '>

I have to agree Eric on the fact that round-cornered machines are becoming few and far between and that the general migration to 60's square-cornered machines is inevitable...
As far as the site slowing down, I think my stats are about the same over the last year; however, as Pat stated, people are coming and going all the time... I'm actually in the process of removing members with no activity in the last year just for good database maintenance...
As long as people are still collecting old soda machines, Soda-Machines.Com will be here!

I've been interested in soda machines for many years but only this year found this site this year and poked around while I found my first machine, a Cavalier CC4-132G which does not cool. But it was local and got it for $35. I still need to find the time to remove the cooling system and send it to Global Compressors who gave me all the details and a good price.
This Fall I did lay down some hard earned cash to have Josh Loman restore two machines (Cav 64 and Vendo 56) as he recently posted. I felt they were good investments and would be real nice around the house - can't believe the wife doesn't want one in the "great room"! Josh does nice work and has good attention to detail at a bargain price. Yes, that's now my Frostie machine. I'll get some good pictures when I get it off the trailer tomorrow. I'm square top all the way. Round tops are just way out of my price range for a machine to enjoy and also use.

Hello Everybody, I have been popping out of this site for a few months now, the more I visit this site the more I like it. This is really a great site for us soda machine collectors and restoration people to share info., machines, parts and ideas. I am in the central california area and have approx. 50-60 round top machines. I collect pre 1960 soda pop, gas station (petrolaina) and coin op. I buy, sell, trade and perform restorations (year round) in my restoration shop. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a replacement magazine for "Club Soda"? Thanks and keep up the good work on this site!!! Terry

I don't know of any other soda club magazine. After Club Soda.....uh...stopped.... I called a few of the Club Soda members and one had a copy of the member list but nothing that I know of was re-started or picked up. I found this site and I'm here to stay. I do miss the stories of finds. My story made issue 30.... I was shopping at a Antique store for depression glass for my wife and I picked up a Vendo 81 and Cavlier 72 for $75 bucks each! Whew! Those were the days! There was a topic not to long ago here that someone asked something like.... What can you get for a hundred dollars... and several responses were posted. Would love to see/hear more of those stories. Maybe this new year... Unbelievable what is still out there. Stick with this site it's great! '> Eric

Hello Eric, I believe I remember your story in club soda. If I remember correctly a guy came in with a trailer with the machines you bought and I'm thinking a cooler that he wanted to keep for himself, he was also a few feet away from jeff Walters book. Am I right? Terry

Wow.... good memory...you're right.... he kept a Pepsi 55 ideal slider & a Coke Westinghouse master...he thought they older and might be worth more. That was a great magazine! Loved it! I had redesigned the Clib Soda logo for it and he said he was going to use it... But it never made it. What a shame it ended like it did. Remember all the for sale ads..... Machines have doubled ... even tripled in some cases. I would love to see this on this site.... Maybe Jim can figure somesthing out to where we have a space for finds of the month and members post images of what they have found and the deal they got. What do you think? '>

well that was mine, What will a hundred dollers get you June 4 2004 post and it did turn out alot of responses. And I think you right we should have the find of the month or something like that, and have it open to soda machine's, dispensers, picnic coolers and maybe even soda advertising signs. just a thought

That would be a great idea. I think that would make the search for machines a little more interesting. Buying a machine from e-bay just isn't as fun as finding a machine on a weekend road trip. I know everyone of us has a interesting story on a find or two. '> I recently picked up a early V39 (mint) and a seeburg 100J juke box in great condition about a mile from my house, they were advertised in a small local antique store. I paid $800.00 for the pair. I also picked up a V81 for $400.00 and a cavalier 72 for $175.00 recently, so the good deals are still avail. Terry

I'm listening...
I apologize for being so far behind on things, I just never seem to find the time anymore...
At any rate, I have begun to implement a Photo Gallery here! It still needs a little work but for the most part, it functions. Check it out and let me know what needs to be modified or included...
As far as a "Machine of the Month" or "Find of the Month", I had thought of this last year but wasn't sure I would have enough information to dedicate to twelve machines a year... I'm talking about in depth info similar to the Club Soda Publications... My goal was to send the Newsletter with this information linking back to the current section...
I still have to migrate all the data for the Dispensers Section so it can be displayed...
I might have to seek out some of you for your web development capabilities and assist in completing some of these tasks...

I'm for “find of the month”... I like the idea of coolers, dispensers, machines, soda related items only...
Wow Terry..... You're making a killing... Sounds like some great finds! Congrats!!!! I also collect old neckties from the 1940s & 50s and the site K.N.O.T. (stands for Kollecting Nasty Old Ties) They have a section for finds of the month. It's great to see what still out there and where!
Jim I don't know the exact site name anymore....do a search for old neckties and see if how it's set up... if it could be done here. And hey.... don't apologize! This is a great site...and a great site is always changing and growing for the better! I didn't know if a photo gallery would be for something like this... Just thought it would be fun to post some images of members finds... and the images could fall out after a couple months so you don't have to keep things updated and take too much memory/space... Or does it even work like that? As you can see I don't build sites. But I do have a cool one... And we're still working on it check it out www.soda-signs.com

Thanks Terry... Plan on doing a several new designs this year. I do all the artwork myself... love making them. Got some great stuff coming and would love to hear what people are looking for in signs as far as brands in soda and gas/auto type. So watch the site to change this next year.
And anyone interested we made 2500 7up flanges. Which was probably 500 to many as we have about 500 left so call my brother who stands over the phone we can work deals on those! single or 5 per box.

Jim, I was thinking something on these lines of something that you found at a garage sale or even by a old barn and even in the want ads in the home town papers . With a photo of it if able. This is just a thought.

First, I want to Thank Everyone for the praise!
Secondly, belive it or not, if you visit the Event Calendar, you'll see that August is the offical month SMC was launched back in 1998. It's hard to believe it's been 7 years!
As a matter of fact, I originally had a site back in '96 which is still available for anyone to visit, Vintage Restorations... This site still gets visitors from time to time...
Again, Thanks for the kind words and if there's anything we can do to make things better, I'm open for discussion...
