Well took the coin changer to the lock experts today. Try as they may, picking the original lock just didn't.happen. So we drilled it out, put a new one in. Very pleased with how clean the interior guts of the original machine are. Even had the original coin cup. No buffalo nickels though  I spent 4 hrs of labor today disassembling, resurfacing the original paint, and painstakingly cleaning each individual piece before reassembly. I saved the original cardboard sign front, and am waiting on the original plexiglass in the mail from member Tom. |

I have made repro's of the “bell boy” insert and the Coke insert as the original.. the original Coke is centered circled to where the repros are off center...
Are you coming to Chicago?...

Yes the park lights and headlights (hi-beam and low-beam) do work.
It is a real all steel 55' Chevy front end.
Tom,
Those are very impressive restorations. How did you get the internals so shiny?
I'll look for my serial # tomorrow. Do you know what years they made each generation?
The only three different models I know of, are the early ones like mine, and the two versions like yours. One with and one without the "empty" sight glass window.

I have all three versions. The very early model I have is serial # 1100 - I restored it several years ago. My other two are nice originals. The two on the table are for a customer. The mechanisms were completely broken down and everything zinc plated. |

Very impressive work. My serial# is 1435.
Do you know what years of production?
I would guess maybe 1949 to 1954, due to the fact the electric coin changers were coming out in the machines in 1955.
