Hey guys,
I don't want to start any trouble or get someone upset...

I noticed Josh (not trying to point fingers, just an observation) started a thread that he put a large door mech on ebay.  I don't recall seeing it posted for sale here prior to that.  If I missed I am sorry.

I have also noted in the past other guys selling killer machines / parts on ebay never mentioning it to the group here.  Personally if I had something to sell I would make a post here then a few days later list it on ebay.  I understand stuff does not always happen like people want it to and things change quickly sometimes.  I think the people here would be better and faster buyers in a lot of cases.

It just seems to me as "tight" a group that is here you would want to keep treasures like we collect in the family.  I am not in a position to buy a lot of stuff now.  But if I was I would like to have the first look at somethings before the rest of the world does.

Just an observation,
Marvin

I understand where you are coming from Marvin however I have a situation that I need to make as much money as I possibly can at this time. As most of you know I just moved home from overseas and that I have a very bad hip and back from a bad accident in Thailand in 2006 where I was hit by a small passenger bus severely breaking my hip and back. Now that I am home I have to see a doctor at least once to twice per month and I am trying to start my own company. So therefore I have no company insurance and no one will insure me due to my preexisting condition. Until my company gets going my #1 priority is survival. Even being handicapped I am still working in a body shop until things get better and my business can get started ( I am in franchise negotiations funded by my grandma). This work is killing me with pain.

So I sincerely apologize if I have offended anyone by listing auctions and promoting them here prior to offering them to members. I need to make money quickly to pay bills. I am trying to see pain specialists that are costing me Thousands per month out of pocket and I just don't have the money to pay them. I don't mean to make you feel sorry for me but maybe you will understand why I am trying to buy and sell at top dollar for the time being. Other than my main occupation this is all that I know and until my company is profitable I have to do something. Again I am very sorry if I have offended anyone. That has never been my intention.

Josh,

No need to apologize.  Just hope things continue to improve for you.

Well to be honest I have always
Offered stuff up here first and I have done it with
No success . Now with that being said I have helped
Out when able to sending some parts that I've had for
a fair price .
I would also like to see a little more exchange going on with the members
But know it can't sometimes and people have to do what they have to do.

Always tuff. It's funny how things work sometimes. If I'm selling something and I think I have a for sure buyer I'll always ask that person or persons first. They never buy, but, when I list it on e-bay first that person or persons always call me and ask why I didn't offer it to them first. It's one of those cases of damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I think there are things that you have that you don't mind letting go of for a reasonable (mates rate) price.

Then there are things that you want to get what you can for. Maybe you feel embarassed asking too much
from people you are friendly with.. Maybe you think that the price will rise if two people get into a bidding war.

No one needs to apologize.  I was just throwing a question out there.  I have seen quite a few other members putting stuff on Ebay and not mention it here.  I very rarely sell anything at all.
I have people come by my place and say "I just sold my __" and I am like "if I knew it was for sale I would have bought it."

I'm not offended in anyway by selling stuff on Ebay.  It attracts a more diverse buyer group.  I can't afford to buy anything right now anyway.

I just think if I had something for sale I would offer it to my internet buddies before I put it on the open market.  Every situation is different though.

Hey Marvin No harm no foul , I think it was a good question  .
I had a member help me out not to long ago, We had been shooting PM's back and forth
and I think there was a few photo call even which was just shoot the breeze, Then one day I came
home and here is a big package, This member just sent me this item ,No money  no nothing  oh
So I called him and thanked him and asked him what he needed to cover the part and postage
and he said nothing I may need something from you one day and I would hope you would do it
as I did for you.

And You bet he will get this from me with no questions  smile.
Plus JohnieG And I work together pretty good on stuff,  I think I'm a little behind right know with him
but hoping to catch up   biggrin.

So yes I am going to start offering parts or machine here first to help out my family here.

I am kinda confused, if you  need money fast why then have a 7 day auction? If you offered it here and it sells I would think  you would get your $$ faster, or is it you don't know what to sell it for and that is why it is on ebay?

I think the last one in this condition and for a 81 sold for $550-600 take the ebay fees out and that would be the most you would get.

I am not in dire straits for money. Maybe I worded that wrong. A matter of a few days doesn't make much difference. The longer the auction runs the more people get to see it and usually the more it goes for. I didn't mean to sound desperate in my last post. I am not in need of immediate money but I do need to get as much as I can to pay my bills. I was just explaining my situation. Usually for small parts or parts that are not big in value I give them away plus shipping if someone here really needs it. It just happens that a large door coin mech is a rather high ticket item especially in this condition. I again apologize if anyone's feeling have been hurt or offended by this. I have gotten numerous emails and PM's about this topic since it was posted.

On the other side of what VMC 81 said yes if someone is interested in something someone is selling it may be faster than listing it on ebay. However if you post it here and no one wants it then you wasted several days and then you still have to spend 7 more days on ebay.

I hate to hijack this thread but here is another situation. I am going to start buying and selling machines again and many will be parted out. Am I expected to list every machine and every part on here before I advertise it locally? I don't mean to point fingers but several members here build machines professionally and sell them in their shops, ebay and in antique stores and do not always advertise them here first. How is that different?
