Turn your sound on for this. Read this first, then watch.
This is almost unbelievable. See how all of the balls wind

up in catcher cones.

This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort

between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory
and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the

University of Iowa.
Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came

from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of
Bancroft, Iowa ...Yes, farm equipment!

It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up,

alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video

but, as you can see, it was WELL worth the effort.
It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall

at the University and is already slated to be
donated to the Smithsonian.

Pretty darn cool!
I wonder how many balls are used - they all look to be recycled during play.

Signguy beat me to it!  That is a very cool video; however, not real!  Great computer graphics though!

It is cool, but like John said it was busted a while back and it was even on Fox new .com on how well it was made.

I normally do check Snopes.. I got fooled on that one.. I couldn't believe it was real, but the article was pretty convincing..

Yeah
I saw this several years ago and got the DVD for my son.
There are 2 DVDs actually.
Called Animusic and Animusic2.
One has 7 videos on it.
Really cool.

First time I've seen this or heard about, but noticed it was CGI right off the bat.    Things that I saw that made it not look real were the colors aren't right for it to be real (especially cymbals) nor is the vibe key length. To get a different tones it must be a different length - the shadowing of the balls is off or incomplete at times too.  Oh well....still pretty cool and a rocky tune.  Need to figure out to transfer it to my phone for a ringtone.
