What is the best thing to put on your outside signs to help reduce the breakdown (rust) do to the weather. I have a nice sign, painted metel, from the 50's. It has a little rust on on it, but nothing very bad. I have it hanging outside on my backporch. The porch is covered, so the sign does not get rained on, but it is still "outside". Should I spray some clear Polyurethane  or Rustoleumon on it.

The rain isnt going to kill the sign, its the sun, Porcelain is the best to hang outside, Use a very good quality automotive wax on it.
