Removing Paint from a Porcelain Sign

I may be inheriting a nice porcelain sign that has some paint on it from a careless painter.  Are there any safe methods to attempt to remove the paint?  The porcelain under the paint looks like it is in good shape.

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

porcelain is easy its the tin and painted steel you really have to worry about, try it on a small area first but paint thinners, paint strippers, mineral spirits etc have all had great results with me.

I have had good results from your typical paint stripper as porcelain is unaffected. Be sure to use a soft plastic scrapper so you do not scratch the sign while removing the paint. Rinse and clean with warm soapy water. Polish and a coat of wax may help also...

You know what I like to use is a blow torch    that explains why I dont have any signs left .
