This came across another site I'm on, and I thought it was worth sharing. Someone on another site was selling something, and it just seemed a bit fishy, so they asked some questions. The guy has documented all the email back and forth from the scammer. Long page, but interesting as well.

I'm sure that whoever was doing the scam is using some sort of language translator program, and as you know, not all words and context translates evenly.

Yeah I am selling some breakers on Craigslist and just got an email from some guy in France stating he wants to buy them, wanting to know condition and payment. I emailed back stating that if he would have read the post it CLEARLY states BRAND NEW and that payment is CASH, lets see if he replies so that. I will copy and paste his email so you can see the spelling and all!!!

I think that is a form letter for all of their scams. All they do is fill in the item and the price, and they don't always get that right.
It seems that they always have a client in the area that is willing to pick the item(s) up and drop off the check, so I usually reply to the effect of that their client can cash the check so that we can avoid all those pesky trust issues.

I know some people don't think or are ignorant enough to fall for it but come on if you have the LEAST bit of common sense it is obvious. So much for a quick transaction I email ASAP and he never replied!!!'>
