This came across another site I'm on, and I thought it was worth sharing. Someone on another site was selling something, and it just seemed a bit fishy, so they asked some questions. The guy has documented all the email back and forth from the scammer. Long page, but interesting as well.

Hey Bubba,
Did you notice his name in red "Conny Lingus". Sound familiar?

I'd love to take credit for this creativity, but it wasn't me. It was someone from a site I belonged to a few years ago..

I'm sure that whoever was doing the scam is using some sort of language translator program, and as you know, not all words and context translates evenly.

This brings back memories of a Nigerian scam that wanted to buy a coke machine that I was selling here on SMC about a year ago. '<img'> No they didn't get my cash or machine!!

Yeah I am selling some breakers on Craigslist and just got an email from some guy in France stating he wants to buy them, wanting to know condition and payment. I emailed back stating that if he would have read the post it CLEARLY states BRAND NEW and that payment is CASH, lets see if he replies so that. I will copy and paste his email so you can see the spelling and all!!!

hi, this is  Allen, i saw you radvert on internet now and i'm interested in buying your SQUARE D QO 20 AMP Snap In Breakers (41) - $150  is the asking price and am okay with it,i will like to know the present condition,t. i want you to know that i'm doing this transaction on behalf of my client. so get back to me asap so that i can arrange for payment and pick up.Thanks and god bless

Well lets see how quick this ends!!!! These people CRACK me up!!!':p'

I think that is a form letter for all of their scams.  All they do is fill in the item and the price, and they don't always get that right.

It seems that they always have a client in the area that is willing to pick the item(s) up and drop off the check, so I usually reply to the effect of that their client can cash the check so that we can avoid all those pesky trust issues.

I know some people don't think or are ignorant enough to fall for it but come on if you have the LEAST bit of common sense it is obvious. So much for a quick transaction I email ASAP and he never replied!!!'<img'>
