Terry - The globe I have for it is original its a shell shaped glass globe. I'll get it out today and stick a few photos on. The only damage is a slight chip around the neck but thankfully that is covered when in place on the pump.
Brian - I don't think I'll do a full restoration. All the mechanics are there but as I won't be digging for oil just at this stage, although prices being what they are its an option, I won't need it to work. I was thinking of taking the outer casing off getting it sand blasted and having it re-sprayed. You are right about a little research for the right colours. I would suspect that it was originally a shell machine and possibly has the original colors already showing (although a later resotration)
Creighton - Right up until the present really we have been a imperial country. There are still people out there getting arrested dailly for selling fruit & veg in pounds and ounces rather than the European Killos. When I first started driving about 20 yrs ago we'd have petrol (gas) priced by the gallon. Then it was priced in gallons and litres and only recently has the gallon price dropped off. I think that because petrol works out to just under a pound a litre ( yes that's right) they are too frigtened to show what it really is by the gallon.
Marsha - I think my wife realises that if I'm spending my money on hobbies like this there isn't time or money to go out getting drunk and womanising (not that I would but hey the oppotunity could have been there) She's a good girl really and even occasionally helps me shift the beasts around.
I'm forty in April so I look at this as an early Birthday Present. My family are going to give me money instead of buying me things I don't need and I'll put that towards getting the baby up to full health. I'll then always have something to remind me of the milestone. I know most people buy watches of something similar but you guys, I'm sure will understand the need for soemthing big.
Thanks for your comments...
Dave

Dave, unless you plan to open up a petrol station, it is acceptable to remove the pump and discard it. no sense getting a hernia moving it into the game room

Weber's carries parts and check www.time-pass.com Scott is always set up at the Chicago show. Carries a ton of stuff and put an image on oldgas.com that is a great site (thanks Joey for posting that site for us) those guys will go crazy over it! They're like the Bizzaro world of soda-machines. com Just as crazy and love those pumps like we do our machines and dispesners. Great pump, great condition!

Dave, what a great find! After reading the title of this thread, at first I thought you were announcing the birth of a child. LOL! Can't wait to see the globe. We sure are glad that you are a family member of this forum. Congrats!

Jim & Co..
have taken a couple of piccies of the globe. It original and very dirty. The lettering will also need to be touched up profiessionally too. Other than the small crack on the rim it appears solid and will certainly do me.
Sorry about lack of light on pictures just started to snow. It weather you Americans are blowing this way.
