Here are a few pictures of the Choice Vend taken apart.

The rust in the bottom of the cabinet looks worse than it really is. The rust came from an evaporator pan under the upper evaporator coil. I think from running the machine without the two upper fan motors operating.

The removal of the inside parts was interesting due to the size. We had to remove the lower vending unit first & then we had to muscle the can racks out. For the most part this machine has the same basic design as one of our normal machines except for the  vending wiring harness.

Repair parts should be flowing in over the next two days.

With no manuals out there for Choice Vend, you should document
every step(with pics) from removing the first screw, to putting the last screw back in.

Every step. Boy could this forum use that. Especially those of us that own a CV.
They could go in the Soda Jerk forum.

There are some special items with the electrical service wiring harness that I am still investigating but so far it has been remove screws & pull apart.  I was surprised to see two evaporator fan motors.

Those are some neat pics, I haven't seen a CV machine disassembled before.

I'd like to ask a question or two, if that's ok.

Can the vend assembly (augers,motors and the metal sides around them) be taken out of the machine without having to take the huge columns above them loose? Sound like it can, but I'd like to be sure.

Yes that is how it comes apart.

There should be two screws holding the vendor section with the augers in place. That part slides out first & on to the floor in front of the machine. The wiring harness does not have a disconnect junction so it stays connected.

Next you can take the can rack out by removing the upper screws. This part is very heavy so have some help. On the lower right side there is metal tip that sits down between two metal clips. So the rack has to lift up & then pull forward to come out. We tried for about 20 minutes to pull the can rack out first before we figured out the correct procedure.

Next I took out the double evaporator fan motor bracket to clean it.

I then took out the refrigeration system for cleaning, painting, new condensor fan motor. While the refrigeration was out I cleaned the lower cabinet & the lower precool area that was showing all the rust drippings.

I have investigated the wiring harness on the CV. The wiring harness is more like a 3 plex outlet. One outlet is for the compressor/fan motor linked to the thermostat. Thermostat calls for a lower temp in the cabinet & allows the compressor to run.   The wiring harness also has two fulltime (powered) outlets. One outlet powers the vending circut with the big augers, the coin mechanism & the lights. The third outlet was marked for defroster which I assume is for cold weather climates.  So when I get the new wiring harness  from the "Soda Jerk"  I will have to figure out the best way to add the second plug in outlet. I have some ideas but not sure right now.

This CV appears to have never been cleaned in the past. I have spent at least 2 hours spraying & wiping the inside of the three doors.

I am working on the lighting to get it operational. I may just replace the old light rig with some out of the box lights from Lowe's.

I will post additional pictures on Friday AM.

If you have any more questions just ask & I will try to provide an answer that can be understood. It is sometimes hard to describe something with this many steps.

One more item for the CV

When I move it into place here at my office to take over the soda vending duties I am going to leave it apart, move the body into place & then put it back together.  I will have to reinstall the vending part for the move but I will leave out the refrigeration unit & the can rack.

That weight is dangerous even with three or 4 guys moving it.

Cool. I'm glad that the vend base can be taken out without the can rack.

I haven't looked yet to see for sure if my smaller CV is made where it comes apart the same way, but I don't know why it wouldn't. For the longest time, I've thought the rack and base had to be taken out together. That more or less "canned" (LOL) any work on the machine because of the sheer weight of just the rack. Being able to take the vend base out by itself makes much more sense.

Looking at the first picture you've posted (the one showing the machine's inside with the vend unit and can rack taken out), it looks like the evaporator coil is about the height and width of the vend unit. Was there another evap coil up above it behind the can rack? Though I can't say for sure, it looks like the evap in my 224 goes most of the way up the back of the machine.

EDIT: Is that the evap coil showing in the picture? It resembles a coil of some sort.
