Sweatin' in Arizona... but it's a dry heat!

WWW
« on: July 06, 2005, 10:58:14 am »

Seems expensive to me but, I have no idea if this is a good or bad deal.  I stumbled across an ad for a coke cooler and thought someone on the boards might be interested so  I contacted the seller.  The seller describes it as It holds 12 bottles and has a removeable lid w/ handle (not pictured).  It says Drink Coca Cola on both sides and also says Acton Mfg. Co., Kansas City, and has both US patents and Canadian patents.  It also has a built in bottle top opener. and are asking $200.  If you are interested let me know and I can PM you the seller's contact info (hate to post it publically).  If you like I'd be willing to act as intermediary if that helps.

I think $200 is very high for this.  There are plently of these on eBay for less than that and in better shape.  Most often, the tray that went inside of these is missing.

Bryan,

The cooler pictured looks like a Acton No. 10 Junior (All Red Steel) in "good" condition they list for $250 as per Steve Ebner. If it is indeed complete, and looks as good as it does and has no serious flaws, $200 is not asking way to much.

I recently got into coolers and have been watching them for a couple of months now trying to establish a trend. Acton Coolers are pretty darn collectable and are sought after. But then again Progress and Cavalier both have specific models that are highly sought after.

Sorry if I misquoted the cooler's value.  I don't have the price guide for this one.  However, this one on eBay looks similar (made by Acton) and is at $42.

Acton Cooler

I've not seen these models go that high on eBay, but I don't follow them that closely.

Yeah I'm kinda into cooler too (surprise) I have several brands in the A1 Progress models
Also have the low boy and junior (or 6-pack model.. the type that's being repro'd.)
The low boy is being repro'd too (it sits on the wagon on the back of these little pedal cars.)
Yeah I think $200 is a little high... Coca-Cola coolers are all over eBay. Unless it's a low boy
or original junior or airline cooler and complete... I'd pass... (Looks like the tray is missing too.)
Acton must have been a smaller company as you don't see these models as much as Progress.
Watch for Grapette A1's, Dads rootbeer,  Red Rock Cola and Squirt these are the harder to find.

But thanks for keeping watch for us! In this hobby we need all the help we can get!

The eBay one looks like a Acton Standard (Walters pg. 16). Average $65.00. The dog on board is either another Standard or a Acton Low-Boy. Average $85.00. Need to know the height to tell the difference. Also, second the thanks for keeping an eye out!!
