Rc machine

I picked up this RC Machine yesterday.  I was planning to sell it after I changed the lock on it and made sure everything worked.  My wife came out of the house, looked it over, and said “It is not Pepsi….we are keeping it”.  The three other machines I have are Pepsi.  I heard that whip crack so now I guess I will sell my newer Dixie-Narco to the person I was going to sell this machine to.  Oh well, not a big deal except that D-N is in the basement and weights half a ton.  '>  The person I got the RC Machine from did not have the key for it.  He unplugged it when he bought the building it was in.  I looked the machine over and could not find the tag of who made the machine.  Anybody recognize the machine and who manufactured it?

I looked over the Vendo pictures under the soda machine section and I found several that look like it.  I did pick up this machine in Kansas City.  I re-looked it over and did not find a place on this machine where a tag could have been attached.  Somebody might have filled in the holes of the rivets for the tag.  I do know they put an ugly brown coat of paint on the sides and back.  The top of the machine is a RC blue.  I hope when I get it open I will find something inside that says what it is.  I was able to plug it in today and in less then 10 minutes it cooled down.  Thursday I should be able to get it open one way or another.

I drilled the lock out today.  Oh boy what a mess.  I have a power washer so the cleaning part will not take me very long.  This is what I don’t understand.  Why is there a light socket with a 50 watt light bulb near (I believe this is what it is called) the Condenser in the coldest part of the machine?  Yes, a refrigerator has one but it shuts off when the door closes.  It is not in a place that would help a person see when they are refilling the machine.  I am going to trace the wiring and see where it is hooked up at.  I do know it is wired into the Thermostat.  Somebody wrote Vendo 345 on the inside of the machine.  I think they missed up with the 345 and it should be a Vendo 348.

Did someone put it there to deal with the condenser freezing up maybe?  Just a thought, I worked on a "newer" (80's model) Dixie machine a few years ago that always froze up after we changed compressors, so we had to defrost it once a day until we could get a refrigeration guy to fix it.  Maybe this is a poor boy solution.  Whatever it is, can't be very smart to put an electric bulb fixture in the middle of the condensation drip area...
