I picked up this RC Machine yesterday.  I was planning to sell it after I changed the lock on it and made sure everything worked.  My wife came out of the house, looked it over, and said “It is not Pepsi….we are keeping it”.  The three other machines I have are Pepsi.  I heard that whip crack so now I guess I will sell my newer Dixie-Narco to the person I was going to sell this machine to.  Oh well, not a big deal except that D-N is in the basement and weights half a ton.  '<img'>  The person I got the RC Machine from did not have the key for it.  He unplugged it when he bought the building it was in.  I looked the machine over and could not find the tag of who made the machine.  Anybody recognize the machine and who manufactured it?

Looks sorta like a Vendo to me, or maybe a Royal vendor (Dixie-Narco knockoff)Huh?

I looked over the Vendo pictures under the soda machine section and I found several that look like it.  I did pick up this machine in Kansas City.  I re-looked it over and did not find a place on this machine where a tag could have been attached.  Somebody might have filled in the holes of the rivets for the tag.  I do know they put an ugly brown coat of paint on the sides and back.  The top of the machine is a RC blue.  I hope when I get it open I will find something inside that says what it is.  I was able to plug it in today and in less then 10 minutes it cooled down.  Thursday I should be able to get it open one way or another.

I drilled the lock out today.  Oh boy what a mess.  I have a power washer so the cleaning part will not take me very long.  This is what I don’t understand.  Why is there a light socket with a 50 watt light bulb near (I believe this is what it is called) the Condenser in the coldest part of the machine?  Yes, a refrigerator has one but it shuts off when the door closes.  It is not in a place that would help a person see when they are refilling the machine.  I am going to trace the wiring and see where it is hooked up at.  I do know it is wired into the Thermostat.  Somebody wrote Vendo 345 on the inside of the machine.  I think they missed up with the 345 and it should be a Vendo 348.

Did someone put it there to deal with the condenser freezing up maybe?  Just a thought, I worked on a "newer" (80's model) Dixie machine a few years ago that always froze up after we changed compressors, so we had to defrost it once a day until we could get a refrigeration guy to fix it.  Maybe this is a poor boy solution.  Whatever it is, can't be very smart to put an electric bulb fixture in the middle of the condensation drip area...

Found out that the light socket was a do it yourself add on.  It is the type that you put two wires trough the back of it and screw the lid so the two sharp metal points cut in to the wire.  The other thing that has me curious is the shoot that catches the cans or bottles and leads them to the exit out of the machine is chrome.  It is not a dull chrome but a mirror finish on this chrome.  I’ve had mirrors that were not this reflective.  This is the first machine I have run into with a chrome shoot.  My wife thinks the light bulb and chrome is there so you can see the soda come out of the shoot.  '<img'>  I just nodded my head and smiled.  Well, the Coin Mechanism is bad and I have two sections that do not want to vend.  They seem to be jammed because the motors try to run.  If I can’t figure them out I will be posting again.

I have seen some chrome one. Just one of those things. Seen lighted ones too. But from what your saying. The light wasn't in the correct spot.

After I power washed the machine (about an ½ inch of grease and six dead mice) I found out that the drain had been plugged and rust had almost eaten trough the bottom of the liner.  Some cutting, sandpaper, bondo, primer, and rubberized undercoating fixed that problem.  I have two things left to fix on the machine.  Here is a picture of the one problem I will need help with.

From what I can tell this is a breaker.  When something goes wrong with the vending process this part will kick and shut down the motor (like a can getting stuck).  The one circled and the one to the right of it (I found the VERY small piece that allows the arm and little bar to turn together while cleaning the bottom of the liner so it is back together and working ':<img:'> ) instantly kicks when you try to vend.  I can unplug the breakers and they both vend just fine.  This problem worries me so I am asking if anybody knows where I should start in trying to figure out what the problem is.

Hmm...Looks more like part of the "empty" switch to me ( by the physical location of the swtich) does the little black "breaker" slide off of it's respective connector up on the switch?

In the picture below the red circle on the right is the empty switch and the breaker is circled on the right.  The empty switches work fine.  I have not tried removing the black part (circled in yellow) and connecting the power directly to the breaker.  I will have to try that tomorrow.  Today at the Electronic Shop I was showed a Coke Vendo 528.  It is BIG!!!!  I could live in it and still have room to park my car.  I know my truck would have no problems carrying it back to my house but I don’t think I have enough friends to get it out of the truck.  It is a machine I will have to think on about getting.  Maybe after I clean out my garage.
