Has any one on the forum purchased a complete cooling system from this person? If yes were you happy with the purchase. Is there anyone else that makes a complete drop in unit? Are you missing the entire cooling system or is your compressor non-functional? Could you have existing system repaired?

Compressor is shorted out. I know compressors are available but there is no one in my area that would install it and charge the system. It's a completely restored machine so I thought it would be worth the cost to purchase a complete new unit.

With all due respect, if it's a completely restored machine, the evaporator, etc should be in good shape. There must be an air conditioning or appliance person nearby that can swap the compressor. You'll probably need the same person to install and charge the new system anyway.

I think I'd wait for a "beater" 39 to buy and part out for the cooling system...

Yes,

Dave makes awesome compressors for when you're in need of a machine-specific new compressor set up that will work with your machine. He's also making a drop-in V44 compressor now too. Good stuff.

Yes, it's alway an option to get a used deck to drop into a machine, but you are buying a "pig-in-a-poke"

It may help to state what general "area" you're located near, " local" is a subjective term.
