I placed an ad in a local paper some time back looking for a machine for parts.
Today I get a call from a guy who didnt know what model his machine was, if it cooled or not all he knew is he had a new fan motor placed in it once. He assumed it was a Vendo 63, possibly 56 he hadnt looked. He assured me it "worked perfectly"
He actualy told me I was crazy if I didnt pay him 1000.00 for his machine.
His actual words were... "You are crazy, I have an antique here, you dont know what you are talking about. I want ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR IT".
I assured him all I needed at the time was a parts machine. He hung up on me.
What would you guys have done?'>

I would have hung up on him. Unless it was a roundtop. Do you know if it was a round or squaretop? How rude of him.

Not much you can do since people like that don't even want to listen to reason... Anyone that starts talking by saying "You're Crazy...", has to be a little off their rocker in my opinion.
If he would have had a conversation with you, I would have stated that the machine isn't worth that much if it's not working correctly and go from there...

"He said it was one of those little square machines."
Hey his loss that little ad gave 4 more leads on machines.
2 are chest machines. One ice cooled and 1 elec. Plus another 56.

I had a lady call today with a vendorlator 126 and she only wanted $800. There are a bunch of people out there that want a fortune for a rusty machine but for every few wasted calls there are one or two good ones and that what makes it worth it.

For a square top owned by a boor -> Tell him good luck and when he comes back to his senses he can drop it off at your place and you'll give him $150.

Good idea, dont think he will call back.
The 4th machine I got a call on is the one I am working on now, it's in my other post. So far cleaning up great.
