1015 Jukebox Converted To Play 45's

I buddy of mind found a restored 1015 in my area that he wanted me to kick the tires on. In making the appointment to see it I asked if it played 78's and she said when it was restored in the mid 80's it was converted to play 45's. My buddy didn't know that so when I told him he lost all interest in the jukebox. I know nothing about the 1015 so in doing that, going from 78's to 45's did it kill the value that much?

The market killed the value long before the conversion. I now see nice restored 1015's for $4-6k, A few years ago they would have been snapped up for 9- 11,000
It's also possible it's not an original, but an OMT. (One More Time. Wurlitzer Germany)

Yes it could probably be a OMT for 45's but it's very easy to explain the difference between a 45's omt or a converted original over the telephone.
What't more is modified on an original 78 to 45's converson than speed of the table, pressure on the pickup and simply inserts on the disc pile for smaller diameter 45's Are they hard to convert back to 78's
I'm only guessing i had never own a real jukebox more than a omt cd

Saw it today, not a OMT. Looks to play 78's but each slot has a holder inserted in it to hold a 45. Didn't think it was a bad idea as it still looks original. Not sure how one would convert the speed of the record back to play a 78 again.

Converting it back to 78's is a simple job. Victory glass sells the correct gearing, and the only other job is to adjust the tone arm so that it sets down on the edge of the larger 78 record at the right place. You might also need a set of record trays and maybe a different needle/cartridge.

The cost of 78 gears is $100...I'm not sure how much 24 trays go for for 78's...then put a lollipop tonearm on....I'm guessing the total conversion would be between $500 and $600.
