Collecting Ideal Sliders

« on: August 25, 2013, 10:10:03 am »

I couldn't find anything on this site regarding an embossed or de-embossed Canada Dry.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300952001494&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

Is this for real?
Is the ICE COLD BEVERAGES bow tie on the bottom supposed to be green and white? I have only seen red and white. I have the graphics for one of these, but the bow tie is red/white.

"De-embossed"? What does that even mean? Literally, it would mean it was once embossed and was removed.

Looks like a generic that was done as Canada Dry.

I owned this one also, at one time.  The entire sheild is "debossed" meaning stamped inward rather than raised outward.

The banner may very well have been red originally, but the owner substituted green to better suit the machine.

The buy it now price is the MSRP..........it specifically  says "MAKE OFFER"   biggrin

I asked the guy and he said the logo is recessed. I guess the "de- embossed" he is referring to is it being recessed versus protruding out. It looks like a generic in the photo, though. I've never heard
of an embossed Canada Dry, but I've only been in this hobby a couple years.

Leave your contact information with the seller anyway. you never know if the wife will call and tell you to haul it out, or  offer to sell it at a more agreeable price

My machine, when you asked me through e-bay your question I did say it recessed in as opposed to the the logo sticking out, I also said it was not a generic. I will say it here again, it is not a generic slider. I've been doing this for just a little while now and understand what a generic slider is and this is not one.

As for price regarding my buy it now being high as Glen said I have a best offer icon, that best offer can be anything. Again, I have been selling on e-bay for a little while now and know how to sell and it's my strategy on selling. I know most likely someone won't hit buy it now but I like to get emails as I try to do out side of e-bay sales to avoid huge fees.

You may know your stuff! Lots on ebay don't and I, being fairly new to the hobby, did not know if an embossed canada dry even existed. So, I turned to this forum to find out. Moondawg confirmed the validity. Mission accomplished! Don't take any of my questions the wrong way. I cannot take a seller (that I do not know) for his word without getting a second opinion. I think you'd do the same in my shoes. As for the price, I simply said I could not afford it. The price doesn't seem out of line. I get at least that for my restored units.

It's great this forum exists and I'm glad you got a chance to defend yourself, but don't feel we were questioning your intelligence or integrity. Simply looking for answers on my part. Beautiful machine.
