Tecumseh model AEA4430AXA, [Part no. AE155AL-238-J7 115V/60hz, 1/4 HP R12 w/ service valve & start capacitor]. You'll have to order the isolation rubber mounts/ hardware kit separately.
Now I just wanted to say good luck, and we're all counting on you...and don't call me Shirley.

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

My local refrigerant shop is quoting a replacement "low temp" condensing unit, because the Westinghouse ID tag has an "L" as the first character of the model number. These weren't considered low temp, were they? Is there a difference in price range when looking at operating temps on new units?

These machines (soda machines & beverage coolers in general) are considered Medium temperature applications, low temp' applications are called Freezers!
so in a nutshell...
Low temp = below +35 F Medium temp = +35 F to +45 F High temp = +45 F and above

I'll look into the model that you recommended earlier. Seems like a Tecumseh "High Temp" model is within the range desired. High Temp +20 +45, Commercial Temp -10 +45, Low Temp -40 +10. These are the three ranges listed on the Tecumseh site.

remember that in real life your evap' air discharge temp will be about 8-10 degrees warmer than the core itself due to heat exchange inefficiencies. (real life, not theory, don't overwork the math) and the ranges can be tweaked by adjusting the charge & the thermostat used,etc... a medium temp unit can certainly go a bit below +32/0C it's just not as efficient as the low temp model at doing so. just like a high temp unit can get down to +32. it's a soda machine, not a heart-lung bypass perfusion unit.
