Just saw this on Ebay, a Dads rootbeer embossed 55 slider. It seems a little odd that the embossed Dads logo is screwed on the front of the machine. Is this how Dads did their machines? And is it worth $2795.00? I still can't paste a link yet but I did include a pic. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DADS-ROOT-BEER-IDEAL-55-SLIDER-EMBOSSED-RAREST-SODAPOP-MACHINE-MADE-READ-ON-/110965730453?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19d612ac95

NO they were not signs screwed onto the machine, they were embossed ( only "Ribbon" & DAD'S were embossed, the "Rootbeer" was silk screened (painted) this looks like a tin Tacker sign was attached to the front of the slider...looks real , but buyer beware. or at least careful

Spoon-feeding Newbies since 2001... Yeah..220,221 whatever it takes. Remember, all it needs is a shot of Freon! The Vendo V-83 is the '59 Edsel of the coke machine world. ;p Spray painting does NOT restore a compressor 11 is louder than 10... "Hope" is good, but it's not an action plan.

I wonder what is on the embossed panel behind the Dad's tack on. It could be interesting but not 2800.00 interesting...

The "Dad's" is not a tack on. To me it looks like someone tacked a sign over the "Dad's" embossing and then painted the cooler orange. Since that time the tin tacker sign has been removed to expose the embossing. At least that is what it looks like to me. Either way, the cooler in complete condition is not worth anywhere near the asking price. It is a rare slider but maybe more like $1,000 to $1,200? Tim

The outside border above the tin Dads sign looks like the boarder on a 7up embossed slider. I think this tin sign is simply covering up the embossment of a 7 up cooler. Why would someone go to the effort covering up another nicer Dads logo below it with a cheesy tin Dads sign?
Dads being the most rare embossed Slider 55. I would think the box alone would fair a price to the right buyer been 400-60 4$ Add the rack, coin box, and coin mechanism at another 450. I with Tim; 1,000-1,200 would be fair.

I've only seen the Dad's slider in the Jeff Walters book. I think JohnieG summed it up accurately.

No I agree with Tim and Jonnnie G,,, the eyes play tricks.. i believe it to be authentic, the whole embossing is square with the more rectangular Debossing and then again embossing of the DADS lettering... someone did tack over a sign that was rectangular in shape and then the cooler was painted orange... when that tacker sign was removed it creates and illusion that the Dads is tacked on ... I say its' 100% original... and due to the rarity of it... I say it is a 1000-1200 box.. I was trying to find a photo online of a Dads slider.. but can't ... anyone got one to compare?
