Dad gave me his cover collection. A well traveled uncle sent them to him from the 30's through the late 40's. At least 600. Bars, gas stations, car dealerships restaurant's etc... Most have had the matches removed. Guess to make them easier to mail (bad I suspect).

I'll pull the ones I like and will try to sell the rest. Pics posted when I get back home.
Suggestion welcome.
Thanks!!

Any other requests just post.

I have a matchbook collection! A lot still full with matches.
They are in the back of my office closet in a tall four-basket type container - the whole thing measures probably 8"Wx24"Dx40"H and has probably close to 10,000 matchbooks or so. I have three Matchbook Collection Books too that were designed to hold matchbooks spread out with matches removed - not sure either if that is accepted matchbook policy, but like you suspect not - oh well!  oh
Mainly from the 60's-80's, but also quite a few older ones in there.

Very Cool!
I especially like the one that says taxation is theft!
I would probably give the most for the playboy club covers as I have a nice collection of early Playboy's starting at #2 I sure wish dad would have bought #1. darn

Thanks! Everyone in my family used to bring me matchbooks from their travels, so I acquired quite a few through no effort of my own.

I would probably give the most for the playboy club covers....

Kind of a funny story about them.
My father had company business in NYC in 1974-5 and took my mother, one of my older brothers and me along for the trip. Around the corner from the hotel was the Playboy club tower with a movie theatre on the first floor. "Blazing Saddles" had just been released and was rated R in Dallas, but only carried a PG rating in New York. My brother asked them if he and I could go to a PG movie next door, to which they said yes. The Playboy matchbooks were in a bowl in the lobby. I picked through and got as many different ones as I could find.

Here are a few more pics....
