I just bought my first new car. I have bought two new others but they were demo's with 7 or 10K miles on them and this car has 10 miles on it! I never imagined I would buy a Kia but they have changed their image and cars. This is the best of the cars in its class in my opinion and it won best in class for consumer reports for 2011. This is the 2011 Optima. My wife picked out the color. We went for a gold one but I like this shade of red a lot. They had a deal I could not pass up with the warranty. Their usual is the best of any other manufacturer. It is 6 yrs 50K bumper to bumper and 10 yrs 100K power-train (engine, trans and suspension). But the special deal is that if you have the oil change every 5k miles and have the oil change at a kia dealership for $30 each they will warranty the power-train for life. They said even if it has 200,000 miles on it and its 25 years old and it blows an engine they will warranty the engine. This is the cool thing the glove box has air conditioned air directed in it if you push a button to keep soda's or adult beverages cool. I put a warm bottle of H20 in it today and took the manual out and put it in the console. It got rather cold. Not icy but it was cool. That is the oddest option I have heard of. you would think that would be negligent on Kia's part to promote drinking and driving Smiley What do you all think!

Anyone else have one? Are you happy with it?

Nice Car, looks good in red....... gotta love that new car smell! My 1st "Brand New" car was a 1998 Grand Prix GTP supercharged  240hp. Sweet............... it's now my kid's car.

Red is good. Too many silver, gray, and light gold cars.

Josh,

A good friend of mine is a senior design engineer for Kia/Hyundai and they put out a good product.  He grew up in a GM family and was actually recruited away from GM by Kia.  I see a lot of the Kia and Hyundai models on the road and they are nice looking vehicles.  As far as the cooled glove box, I think that was introduced by Jeep on the Compass a few years back.  Neat option for keeping a couple of bottles of water cool.

Very nice Josh!
Good luck with it and may it deliver endless trouble-free miles ! ! !

We need to get together some time when either you are heading a little south or I'm going north...

I have a Hyundai Elantra Touring that I bought brand new in 2010. I call it my go cart. I am just about at 37K on it now and it hasn't been into the shop yet other than oil changes and already burned up 2 tires. Since the first oil change, I've used synthetic oil. I put a lot of mileage on and it has to last me a long time. Its the 2nd Hyundai we bought. My wife has their minivan and that has been solid as well. Good luck with your new car..
