It was a so-so show. Weather was terrible on Friday morning! Was out there at 4:15 am, like a nut. A few others were there as well! Are we crazy or what! Picked up two Minnit Pop Popcorn machines, one really early that was delivered and one that is the later version. Also bought a degranger candy machine and a Pepsi S&S 700 cooler with the embossed sides. Will post pics in the next week or so. Fall show is much better.

I wasn't even in or near Chicago, but still had a something picked up and delivered from there. actually it came from NJ, delivered to Chicago, and then picked up by another person who brought it to me... A Popperette Popcorn machine, restored over 10 years ago... that I have already sold in a package deal to a guy with a Vendo 81b I'm doing for him.. I just didn't want to be left out of the Chicago show conversation...

It was restored about 10 years ago the seller said, I wouldn't say "Fully Restored" but gone through cleaned up and repainted. The paint shows age and lack of quality, the insides where cleaned, but not polished Like I do when I restore one... but overall its' nice and I had a buyer looking for one, located this one and purchased it for him. He just wanted me to Go through it for him, which I''ll be doing this weekend...

There was a 81B in the parking lot Friday morning and it was sitting behind this guys truck. Everyone kept asking if anyone knew who's it was and how much it was. But nobody knew anything about it. It was a crappy Friday morning so the seller of the machine did not get out there till later. I was looking at another machine across the way and just happened to see the owner of the truck standing on the side of his truck. So I went over and asked if this was his 81B and he said yes, I asked how much and he said 250 which I thought he meant 2,500. I talked to him a little bit and someone else came up and asked the same question, and again he said 250. So I finally asked him if it was 250 or 2,500. He said 250 dollars. At this point there were about 6 guys swarming the machine like bees at the bee hive. Another guy and I said we would take it at the same time. The guy said he would sell it to me seeing how I had been asking about it first. So I ripped the 250 out of my pocket as fast as I could and paid the man. It's not very often that you get to buy an 81 for $250.00. It was just luck being at the right spot at the right time.

Rod, That is incredible... and Great score.. It just floors me that this guy, must be a collector of something , so he decides to come to the chicago show to sell his stuff..You'd just think that maybe somewhere in his travels or if he's been at the show before or at any auction etc.. he would have seen one of these machine sell for MORE that 250.00? but Hey that is what makes this show great.. you just never know what you'll find! by the way I'll give you 350 for it!

Come on John - you know markup is a standard 50% - try $375! It doesn't happen often when the stars line up for you, but it is nice when they do. Great score Rod! And where are the pictures..... or is it missing the rack, shelves, coin door and mech! Maybe that is why it was $350!
