I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and that Santa somehow manages to put that machine of your dreams under the tree tonight.

Thanks to all of you that have given me excellent tech help and tips with the machines I got this year.

Enjoy yourselves and have a great time - lots of good food cooking here...time to put on the eatin' britches and enjoy some family time.

Cheers!  happydrinkers

Merry Christmas to all SMC members.  happydrinkers Travel safely and enjoy time with your family and friends during this holiday season!

I was preparing the pork roast (the roast beast, as I like to call it!) for tomorrow's dinner while watching "A Miracle on 34th Street" (the B & W 1947 version of course) and I noticed a scene that I did not remember.  It got me thinking about what is important in life--especially in light of my wife's recent battle with cancer.  I thought I would pass it along.

This exchange is from the scene in the movie when Fred tells Doris (Maureen O'Hara) that he is going to represent Kris Kringle.  Some pretty interesting words to reflect on as the year comes to a close!

God Bless Us, Everyone!

 drinking Tiny Tim drinking

DORIS: Fred, you're talking like a child. You're living in a realistic world!  Those lovely intangibles aren't worth much.  You don't get ahead that way.

FRED: That all depends on what you call getting ahead.  Evidently we have different definitions.

DORIS: We've talked about wonderful plans.  Then you go on an idealistic binge.  You give up your job, throw away your security... and then you expect me to be happy about it!

FRED: Yes, I guess I expected too much.  Someday, you're going to find out...that your way of facing this realistic world...just doesn't work.  And when you do...don't overlook those lovely intangibles.  You'll discover they're the only things...that are worthwhile.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Pat, that 1951 pic ^ w/ the pedal car is cool. Is that a family picture, or one that you found?
