Anyone ever seen a miniature jet truck?

About 6 years ago, me and a buddy were really bored..  We were playing with model rockets, trying to find something to attach a rocket motor to. In the sandbox was my 3 year old son's plastic toy dump truck. The bed was broken, and was ready for the garbage. It looked like the perfect candidate for the rocket motor... My son saw this, and freaked out because it was his "favorite truck". The first launch, he went from tears to anger, and stormed off to tell mom. She laughed, and then he got more mad... We continued to launch the truck a few more times, adding more and bigger motors..

Flash ahead to present time... he is now almost 9 years old, and a few neighbors were together last night, and we were launching a model rocket in the yard. The dump truck story came up, and I still had the truck. Now, all the sudden he is begging to put a motor on the truck and launch it. So, here it is... the jet plastic dump truck...

ROFLMAO!  I'm 37, going on 17 I think. I'm sure by the end of the weekend, there will be fire coming from some part of this truck. At that point, I'm sure something else would have a rocket engine attached to it '<img'> I'll post more pics as it happens.. MY wife is usually there with camera in hand waiting for the next Darwin Award..   '<img'>

Hey Ken,
Much fun over the years with Estes D-6. If you have abandoned railroad tracks nearby rocket sleds are great fun. Bit tricky to light the secondary engine to return the sled but it can be done. Lots of fun stuff in a book called "Backyard Ballistics" if you can't find a copy let me know.

Backyard Ballistics '<img'> I used their website when we were making potato guns... I forgot about that site..

I was talking with my buddy last night, and he has a composite engine that is the same dimensions as a B/C, but the power of an E. We've taped them to dowels in the past and added a bit of pyrotechnics....

I think this weekend we are going to have some jet car races.. I've got a few plastic dragsters and at least one funny car that will probably undergo the conversion. I'll try to get some videos '<img'>

We were shooting rockets in the school yard on Sun night.. There was 6  adults, 6-7 kids and 3 vehicles in the parking lot. My neighbor drove his little 4-wheeler over.... After we were there about 45 min, a cop pulled in the parking lot, drove around the school, stopped a good distance away from us and watched. Never bothered getting out of his car, coming near us or anything... after a few min, he left. The quad being in the school yard was enough to get someone in trouble.. Plus, where we were launching is also in the flight path of a little private airport on the other side of the trees...

The roccket truck, the cops would probably take it for themselves, but thats about it. Model rocketry is perfectly legal so far..(until we put a bit of pyrodex on top of the engine and glue the nose cone on, but thats a different story) '<img'>

Tom.. I'll check that site out.. We got rid of our power wheels, but I know someones that I could modify '<img'> Thanks for the link..
