found them, they keep them in stock at this little light store, they are 10 bucks each though.  when i put the light in, it kinda flickered then went out.  i wonder if it is the ballast?  i took the ballast out and looked at it but i don't think you can tell when they are fried just by looking at them, so it's off to Lowe's to see if they have one.  just hope i didn't blow the brand new bulb that i just bought today.  thanx for the compliments on the machine.  that mug on top is full of quarters!!'>

A bad ballast will blow a new bulb, but you would see a bright flash first.  Pick up a new starter, that will make it flicker then go off.

well that figures, i was born and raised in Batesville Indiana!  POP IT IS!!  I have not checked the wiring but i got a new starter and it still does not fire up...how can you test a ballast to see if it is any good?
