Just wondering what the turn around time is for a vintage unit.I sent my unit there 6-7 weeks ago and have yet to receive anything back.Rita was to blame, but come on now.I think its one of those classic cases where the little guy(me)gets put to the side because some vending outfit has bigger fish to fry.

I have called 2 or threee times.Keep getting the answer,RITA,said it put him a week and half behind. So what happened the other 5-6 weeks that it has been there.I know I'm correct about having bigger business to cater to.If I don't hear something about this unit being shipped back by Friday,it can just stay there.Be honest how long is it gonna take to put this on the workbench and diagnose it?New compressor? How long is that gonna take to hook up?New wiring?Condensor? And I can already hear the outcome"Well I finally got to your unit and this, this, this, this, and this was needing repair to the tune of $XXX.I don't operate or deal with people that operate in this fashion.

Remember, I haven't quoted a price yet. And you are right, there are other customers. We talked about doing a repair or doing a complete rebuild which I'm not ready to charge for yet. If you want the full rebuild, you know the price and I'll be happy to do it for you. If you want it repaired, I need to have a look and work you in. I'm not about just the buck, Tony, and you don't have to worry about $$$$$.

If you want the unit back, I'll be happy to send it, free of charge. I just think you need to think about it and understand that antique...anything...takes time, paint, parts, repair, chrome, etc.

Once the price is quoted, that's it, no variation, no surprises, period! I know it's been a few weeks. 4-6 weeks is about the time frame I quote EVERYONE. I told you I would know something later this week. If it's not to your satifaction, I'll be happy to send it back. Absolutely, no hard feelings!

Let me know,

Eric

USMC Vet,

No offense but, CHILL OUT!! Eric had never steered any of us wrong before and to my knowledge hasn't delivered an unsat deck yet! I also got caught up in the Hurricane Rita mess. I took a little longer than expected but it wasn't a big deal. It seems that you've answered your own questions though....

You aren't the only customer!!! I wish/pray that everytime I send something to get chromed/re-worked that I'm the only part being worked on, 99% of the time I'm not!

You can rest assured that when you get your deck back it will be exactly as he said it would be, TO YOUR SPECIFICATIONS!
If all you want back is a working deck and you don't give a rats heiny how it looks, tell him. On the other hand, if you want a top-notch, grade "A" restoration, be prepared to wait a bit, but in turn you will get an awesome product back.

I'm not trying to be inflammitory in any way, but when somebody calls a great guy out on the carpet in a public forum to evoke a response, I feel compelled to respond in kind.

First of all I'd like to apoligize to Eric at Global Compressors.I had read somewhere on the internet about a 7 day turn around on these units.I thought it was Global that I read this about,I was wrong, this is another outfit that claims the 7 day thing.I had the opportunity to speak with Eric on the phone today about this issue, and got the issue resolved.Eric seems to have his #### in one bag.Seems to know the refrigeration business.Very professional, straight shooter, something hard to find these days.Like I said before,I am sorry for letting my frustration and patience get the best of me.Thanks for your time.Tony Johnson

Hello USMC Vet,
I have used Eric before and I can assure you "YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPOINTED" He is an asset to our hobby!!!! We all get in a hurry for things from time to time, in fact I'm waiting on parts right now to finish up Peteys Pepsi 110 but I still gotta be patient.  '<img'>

Tony,

The 7 day turn around "experience" is from Antiquities Vending Company. from my personal experience using them, 7 days is fairly unlikely. It took them about 3-4 weeks and I got my deck back: #1 - Bent  #2 - Wired incorrectly  #3 - Overcharged by about 6 oz!

I can fully understand being frustrated and wanting to know when you're going to get your stuff back. All of us have our moments when the circumstances coupled with stress get the best of us. I've been there before (a few times  ':p' ) and will more than likely experience it again.

If you need any help with anything, were all here for each other! Semper Fi!

Your friendly neighborhood squid  '<img'>
