I came across the following board this weekend: http://www.bevnet.com/bevboard/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
It has a section on locating drinks.

One 8 oz bottle of Coke cost us 65 cents, but they will sell a full 2 liter plastic bottle of the same product for 25 cents more.
       I don't get it.

I know what you mean.  I think next time I'm passing through Kokomo, IN I may stop in a few stores (about an hour and a half from me).  One poster said that the 8 oz. Cokes are around $2.50 a six pack.  That sure beats the $4.38 a six pack here!

I understand the frustration.  The local Sam's and Costco stopped carrying the cases of 8oz cokes and Kroger wants 3.99 a six pack '<img'> .  I have tried to get a couple of people I know who work at coke to get me a "inside" contact to buy some, but no luck as of yet

Sometimes a good place to look is the smaller, more ethnic groceries.  I like to check out the hispanic groceries.  I have found that they usually carry glass bottles of standards like Coke, Sprite, Pepsi, 7UP...We also have a lager supermarket called Global Food which carries sodas in glass.

I stopped into a grocery the other day that I had not been to before.  They had an isle of glass bottles, mostly Mexican or Hispanic brands.  I picked up a 12 oz Country Club Raspberry just to try for .79 (bottled in Brooklyn NY).  They had 12oz Coke, Pepsi, Sprite and Squirt for .99 a bottle.  Orange, Grape and Strawberry Crush, but I can sometimes get those at Wal-Mart for 2.50 a six pack.  There were others I didn't recognize, but some neat looking ones.  A case of the Country Club was around $20 with tax.  I guess that is pretty average.

In my area you can get all of the Frostie flaors, IBC, Orange, strawberry, and grape Crush. Barq's rootbeer in 12oz and 8oz bottles. Coke in 8oz bottles, Diet coke in 8oz bottles, Dr. Pepper in 8oz Bottles. Then a store about 30 miles away sells Mexican 12oz and 16oz returnable sodas. Coke, Fanta, Orange Crush, Squirt, 7UP, Sprite, Pepsi and then some odd Mexican flavors. I have seen Mello Yello and Bubble Up in glass bottles before as well.

Hi guys. I know... me again. ':O' '<img'>

Anyway, I have a question about getting bottled Coke products from Mexican groceries in the U.S.A. (Supermercados) that were bottled in Mexico.

Please know that I don't mean this in a negative, racial way at all, heck, I even have relatives that live there. But since Mexico has FAR fewer government regulations than the United States, do you think we have anything at all to worry about in getting Coke prods. from there? Any food safety or ingredients issues we should worry about? I'm not being paranoid, just trying to be very safe.

Please share your views on this.

Thanks so much,

I've been buying the Mexi coke and Pepsi for several years and I do not have a third eye growing outta my forehead yet.  The water is filtered so you do not have to worry about that,  plus it is made with sugar instead of high-fructose corn suryp.  Sugar is much better for you then that nasty stuff.
