Anybody else on a horrible dry streak like me? No machines, signs, nothing! I can't find anything up for sale with a reasonable price. Is it just me?

I was talking to another board member reccently about this.  He had mentioned that during the winter months it tends to slow down.

Just stay consistent, I had a really good week find 3 new local leads with lots of signs, etc.  Took me a year to find 4 local people that also collect.
p
There is no local phonebooks for who collect soda machines, and sign, just time!p!

It always goes in cycles, One month more comes to you than you can handle, The next month nothing. Ive been doing this for a long time and it never fails. When your not looking for anything, out of the blue you will stumble into a great find.

Same here, I have two people saying its in storage I don't know what it is, and I ask can we go and look at it and well I will let you know when I can get to it. Blah blah blah. And I have one of my renters that says his friend has a really nice Westy Master that he was a couple of hundred for and every time he calls he's not home. darn

Been slow here too but a few days ago a lady called me and said she has had a Coke neon for 35 years. Said it was in her storage but she was moving and didn't want to risk breaking it, nor did her new place have room to display it.
Of course I drove right over. It's not really what I expected but I couldn't leave it there  biggrin
Guess this would be 70's? I've never seen one before.

I have a guy I have been begging for weeks to take my money, once again he claims tomorrow is the day.  Hopefully I will have some cool pics to share tomorrow night.  Definitely a streaky hobby.

So this is from the 90"s? Hmmm I'm sure she said she had it from before then.
Also, I can't imagine any reason for anyone reproducing it. Thanks.

It's been a good 2 months or so since I picked up something locally that has been remotely interesting.  I picked up this sign on Monday from a local ad placed on Craigslist. The sign in in the book, it's in below average condition but the price was right and it will go nicely in the garage.

I just moved a couple months back and the difference in what I am finding here is tremendous. In North carolina I was finding very little in the way of machines and signs. At least very little in a reasonable price range. Since arriving here I have picked up a Barber's Pole, Wurlitzer Juke Box, Vendolator 27 parts machine (fairly complete), and three picnic coolers. I have also been selling more.

In North Carolina I was finding three to four good deals a year. I am doing much better here.

Of course I may have just jinxed myself.

It's getting hard to find a good price on a lot of items now! With the different shows on TV (Pawn Stars, Storage Wars, etc.) giving astronomical values for soda related items, the prices I've seen are out of my preferred range for things I would normally consider...  glare

Very nice cardboard!!
How well do the cardboard signs do in a place like the kitchen? Meaning, does the light that a kitchen would normally have discolor the print? (kinda like what one would see of a sign hanging in a store window for a few years)

Its in a darker corner, Im gonna watch it and if anything changes it will be moved to the hallway. Im almost tempted to get it framed with all the acid free paper mating and glass they also make a UV glass I hear???

Hey Joey,
Find the best frame shop in town and see what they suggest. Unless it is in the sun no need for UV glass (spendy).
The shops make their money on mating and it isn't required. A thin edge frame with glass that holds the piece without damage looks great.

Yup, glass is important in any room but mostly in the kitchen. Cooking oils get everywhere. I have a double bubble clock there that get's caked with grease.

Ive gotten a lot of things framed (sports and family related) and I find that COSTCO gives the BEST prices.  The selection is not as wide as a frame place, but the price can't be beat by any large chain place.
And NO I don't work for Costco or have any shares lol.

What is the  size?  Stock frames are readily available, and usally under $20.
If you have a Michael's Arts and Crafts nearby,  or hobby lobby, they always have a 10 or 20%  off coupon.

Yeah Joey that's a nice cardboard.. I'd get it framed with UV glass and hang it in there with the machines...
kinda pricey but well worth it.... too nice of a cardboard to let it fade... also any steam, oil, grease from cooking in the
air would be bad... I would move it into another room... get a nice metal Coke menu board for the kitchen  smile

AND see you in Columbia this weekend!

It does seem that it is a little more difficult to find stuff today then just 2 years ago.  I wish I started this hobby 25 years ago.  I would have lots more cool stuff.  Nowadays, we "junkers" just have to work harder that's all.
